Does anyone know of any places that provide swimming lessons other than the Keller Natatorium and YMCA in the NRH/Keller/NFW area? I have 3 that need lessons and know it can be kind of pricey.

My son swam Emler. He is a very confident swimmer. He loves the teachers, they are fun and teach well. They have a great program. I would reccomend Emler to everyone. Good luck. www.iswimemler.com

Emler in Colleyville (www.iswimemler.com). My 3 year old has been with Emler since a baby. We live in Haslet so driving to Colleyville takes us 45 minutes, but well worth it!!! We tried AquaKids in Keller (off Heritage) for a semester, and he had a very bad experience, so we are back at Emler and back on track. I highly recommend them.

Three of my kids have taken swim lessons at Aqua Kids. I highly recommend them. My 2 1/2 year old is swimming without a parent. It's great. It can be pricey, but I have been very pleased.

The Keller Pointe will be offering swim lessons in the summer as well. They are more reasonably priced.

I took my twins to Keller Pointe last summer when they were 3. I really liked it. If your children are under 5 it is even cheaper than the what the other girl who responded quoted.

Aqua Kids is great! They have a location in Flower Mound and in Keller. http://www.aquakids.com/ is the web address. We have four kids and 3 of them took lessons there and all learned to swim very quickly. We tried one session with our youngest at Winkids formerly Gym kids but did not really get much out of that. Aqua kids has a lot of class times and different schedules that you can work with. Good luck!

My 6 year old son just finished a two week session (Mon-Thurs., 45 min. for a group of 3-4 children)at The Keller Pointe. He would not put his face in the water before we started, and also only went in with a life jacket. Now it is like he has been swimming for years! The cost is $105 for members, $120 for nNon-members, and is an American Red Cross progam. We had Deena Palmer, and LOVED her! She also does private lessons there too. Good luck!

We take our girls to Aquakids on Heritage Trace. Kathryn is amazing...she's actually HIGHLY experienced and used to be a program director for the YMCA and has now been promoted at Aquakids. SHe is great with the kids though and both my girls enjoy going. For the summer, they offer a once a week for 14 weeks program, and also 2 week summer camps. Marnie should be helping this summer with lessons also, and we've really liked her in the past. Beth is also very good.

Red Cross certified lessons are offered every summer at SPLASH at Bedford Boys Ranch - very reasonable pricing too! We live in Bedford and it may be less expensive for residents - I'm not sure. My then-barely-two-year-old daughter took two rounds of lessons last year and we're planning to take more this summer. Splash is at Bedford Boys Ranch on Forest Ridge drive.

Pricing is around $50 for 8 sessions. Here's the link: http://www.bedfordsplash.com/programs/redcross.htm

My daughter took lessons at NRH20 and loved them. We live at the lake now and she is a great swimmer. They get a ribbon and have like a final show for the parents at the end where you can take pictures, etc. Really fun!

I take my 22 month old boy to Aquakids on Heritage Trace Pkwy in Keller. We went to a couple of swim camps last summer & have picked it up again this spring. He loves it & the instructors are wonderful! The main thing I love about it is that it is indoors & they keep the pool just warm enough so we're not freezing the entire time (I still get in with him when he's this young). Plus, regardless of the weather, we always have class. As far as price goes, it was about $200 for 12 weeks I think. I'm sure that will add up fast, but it was worth it for us. Also, sometimes around the end of the school year, there may be ads floating around for private swim lessons in the area that may be able to work something out for you with 3 little ones going at one time. Good luck!

Hi Tam R. - I live in Keller and have a 3 year old son. I take him to Kayleb & Jean Kirkham who own a business located in Bedford and teach swim lessons in their back yard. ###-###-#### or ###-###-####
Kayleb took over his moms business after 18 years of teaching swimming. I was referred to him and was AMAZED at what my son was able to do after just 1 week of swim lessons! He was only 2 last summer and could swim to the bottom of the pool and pick up 4 sticks, then swim back to the top! He also jumped in from the side and swam 1/2 the length of the pool by himself. They have a real gift for teaching the kids, but are not easy on them. The first day is tough for the kids and parents, but once the kids know that Kayleb will not hurt them, they start to have fun. They push them and ensure they can swim no matter what (for safety issues). If you don't want the tough love approach though, don't go here. If you want your child to really learn to swim in a short time, to potentially save their life if they ever fall in, this is the place. Parents can peek thru the fence but can't wait in the back yard to watch (it will distract the kids). On Friday you sit in the back yard and watch what they learned during the week.....it is AMAZING!!! They let you video, photograph, etc. All of my friends go to Mr. Kayleb now.
They get booked up early so hopefully it's not too late to get in. It's $150 per child but they might have a multi child discount (I'm not sure). Good luck & tell them I referred you.
Thanks! B. Kirkland

We went last year to a really great guy that gave private lessons. My son was 5 at the time and still addicted to his life jacket. The lessons were every day for a week for half an hour one on one. I thought there was no way that my son would be able to learn to swim in that short of a time with as "chicken" as he was about swimming. Well, by that Tuesday, he was jumping in the pool and swimming to me as well as floating on his back and giving me all kinds of water safety tips. I was floored. This year, he's going again and I'm bring my 3 year old. Let me know if you'd like the number. It was $170 for the week.

There used to be an Emler Swim School in Arlington when my kids were young. Everyone raved about them. I think they may have moved.

When my daughter was little, she did Swim with Syb. She learned everything she needed to know and is now a certified Scuba Diver at age 25!

Good Luck!

My name is G. Veitenheimer and I teach lessons from my home. My number is ###-###-#### and my email is ____@____.com if you would like more information. My primary concern with beginners is to teach them to roll over on their back and float. This enables them to survive in the water for an extended time if needed should they fall in and no adult is present. After this is mastered, we move on to strokes. My sessions generally run for two weeks - Mon.-Thurs., but some kids need another week or two. Let me know if I can be of service to you.

a unique option... There are TCU students who are life guards who also teach private swim lessons. I found a few gals through http://www.mommymixer.com who now are my favorite babysitters and several of them are also swim coaches and life guards during the summer and offer lessons in your own pool.

The city of Hurst offers classes morning and evenings starting in June (I think). You can look up the city of Hurst website and find out more information. I took my two girls there last summer for lessons and they loved it. Plus, it is cheaper than the other classes that people are telling you about.

Lifetime Fitness in Colleyville has reasonable rates and I don't know if you have to be a member or not. You can take tennis lessons there and NOT be a member.
Also, I would check in at Grapevine HS with the coach there, Mr. Bingenheimer and see what he would recommend. There is a select swim team there and they should know about all lessons in the area.
Great that you are taking your children to swim lessons!
