Hi, my fellow ladies....Does anyone know of a support group for parents of sexually abused kids? I have called hope center, crisis center & safe place. I am wondering if there is maybe a church or something. This crime happened to my baby boy 4 months ago and now that the trial is over and all that. My husband and myself are still standing here with our head spinning and 5,000 questions of why, what's next, and why we cant get back to normal. Yes we are in consoling as a family, and our son. But that is how to heal US as a team. I cant stand the knife still in my heart and the pain of we could of, should of done more, we where here when it happened! In the kitchen talking to our daughter about her day. We need to be around other parents that are here or have been here and can help us see there is light. I refuse to let my marriage fail because of this but we are just so angry and scared of the world. I dont want us as best friends to fail.thanks for you time.

What can I do next?

i would look into a few things. i'm not sure what will fit your needs exactly. here is a list of support groups hill country bible church offers http://www.hcbc.com/templates/System/details.asp?id=28485...=
i would also look into celebrate recovery
http://www.celebraterecovery.com/?page_id=4
the general name is celebrate recovery but depending on who's hosting the recovery groups there will be more focused support groups at the meetings. this is a great program for anyone who's been hurt, had addictions etc. it's not an aa meeting although they also do support for that. this really helped my friend who was horribly sexually/physically/emotionally abused all her life. i'm praying for your family!

K., I am a lay minister with Austin Vineyard, and I can offer you and your husband a 2 hour session (separately) at my home that will help you through the worst mental aspects of the events that have occurred. I don't charge. I can also do the same for your son, and that would be with you or your husband present. It would not take long.
As for support groups, I second the Celebrate Recovery group suggestion, even though it is not specifically for your angst. It deals very well with the feelings of helplessness and anger you and your husband are experiencing.

Hi K. -

This happened to my friend's child. Her little boy was a year younger then yours and she opted to get him some therapy and it did amazing healing for him. She also went to support groups and their family ended up really well - her son just graduated high school and is a wonderful, thriving kid on his way to college. This was in California so I cannot speak on local support groups but I am sure that if you can find a child therapist - that will lead you to support groups - also look online - google the area and topic sor support groups - I bet you can find some - good luck and God Bless your family.

PS - I would make sure and be choosy with your support groups - know that you need to take time and find just the right one. Some may have people that focus on victimization too much, or anger too much; and you need to make sure you find a group that promotes healing and moving on with your life - with strength and love.

K.,

I pray you will find the healing your family needs. I'm so sorry this subject hits me to the core and I have never been abused and neither have my children. What your child and your family have been through is horrible. I will pray for you and all other victims ~ so many out there.

Hey K.-

Wow, what a traumatic experience. I will be praying for you. I go to Hill Country Bible Church in Cedar Park. They have many offerings. If you call and ask to speak with congregational care, pastor Wayne Schomaker, he can point you in the right direction. He's an amazing pastor!
