My husband likes to help the kids cook things for our neighbor friends. Things like bread and cookies. Then, dressed like ninjas, they deliver them and ping-pong dash. Of course, the note says it is from us so they know it is safe to eat. Gives me a break and helps them serve others.

We also run a lot of our excess veggies from our garden to everyone around the neighborhood too and flowers to the little old ladies. Hope this adds some ideas of how to spend some of the excess freetime over the summer. We have 5 kids from age 10 to 1.

I like to keep my kids busy, but give them a break from the ABC's etc. They went to half day week long Mini-Hawk camp (skyhawks.com). Then they had a 2 week break. Next week they'll go to a half day Tennis Camp. And they will also go to an Art Camp. I also take them to the free movies that the Regal offers, and we visit the area museums and attractions. We're also going to Hawaii and Tahoe for family vacations. They'll start kindergarten in the fall. If I don't keep them busy they get really hyper at home and start to misbehave.

my kids are hopefully going to camp this summer or else some form of summer school. My son is almost 7 & daughter is 9-1/2. My husband & I both work full time outside the home. They stayed home last summer and had a really rough time when school started back up so that's a definite no for us (my mom watched them).

Try letterboxing... letterboxing.org or atlasquest.com

Letterboxing is a mostly free scavenger hunt of sorts. In various locations there are hidden boxes containg a stamp, notepad and sometimes ink. You bring your own stamp, notepad and ink. Place your stamp in their notepad and vice versa along with date and a message.

I've use a journal for each of my kids and put photos from our letterboxing hunts as well as their memories of the day. letterboxes can be found around the world and is a lot of fun.

My kids are 6 and almost 9- i work p/t while they are in school.

I work four days a week and my ten month old loves to go to my-gym. We go together or her grandmother takes her, its great for her to be exposed to the school like atmosphere and be comfortable. She takes tiny tykes the schedule is online at. They have a sunday class and every third saturday is parents night out.
