Suggestions for Toddler Discipline Books

We are having a hard time with our 3 year old constantly telling us no. She challenges us about almost everything. Neither my husband nor I want to resort to yelling but find ourselves doing so at times. I was going to buy a book to help us learn how to deal with this stage in a positive way and hopefully change her behavior for the better. I was thinking of buying a book called Positive Discipline for Preschoolers. Has anyone read this book? Or does anyone have a recommendation for another? Thanks.

What can I do next?

I read books to my kids which were published by Grolier.
The entire series was called the Help Me Be Good books,
and it was all written by Joy Berry.
I bought the set when my first child was 3.
She loved it.

Each book illustrates a situation
and reminds them that we are well served
to treat other people like we want to be treated.
Topics included being Sassy, being Selfish,
Being Wreckless (or something like that), Manners...
overall, the whole series was just VERY supportive
as it explained why icky behaviors were not helping anyone.
I liked that it always ended reminding them how nice it is
to be well behaved.

I recommend the books by Dr. Sears. I also recommend a great overall book on getting people (adults OR kids) to do what you want without force or yelling! Oddly, it works for pets too :-) it's called ' Dont shoot the dog' by Karen Pryor who was a well known dolphin trainer as well as all other animals, including humans! She shows you how to handle/respond without being physical or having to dominate.... It's really empowering.

Way to go for trying to find a non physical way to resolve these issues!

I'm currently reading "The No Cry Discipline Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley for the same reason as you (I also have a 3 year old). It's good so far and I like that in addition to chapters with tips on how to deal with typical issues, it has a chapter on anger management for parents with tips on how to stay calm when the little ones press your buttons!
