There's a product called Goo-gone. Try that and see if it works. I bought mine at Lowe's.

I spilled Elmer's glue on my son's carpet. I don't have any idea how to clean it up -- any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank You,
S.
I just want to thank all you "Moms" for your great suggestions. Before I tried the cleaning agents, I attempted to get it up with soap and water and it worked!
It is great to have so many Moms sharing their wisdom: - )

I would use scissors and cut it out very carefully. It will work better if you have not attempted to wipe up the spill. You may try goo gone also. good luck. hd
We will be happy to come take a look at your carpet situation and remove the glue. PLease give our office a call at ###-###-####. Cornerstone Chem-Dry

Goo Gone spray is wonderful.
Try a product called DEBONDER. Available at hobby/craft stores in the glue aisle. Made to 'unglue' items and works great. Shouldn't damage the color. Scrape up as much as you can and follow instructions.
I thought that Elmer's glue was washable. Have you tried warm water and soap?
DON'T CUT IT OUT!!! Elmers is water soluble so just plain water to soften it and blot it dry. If it were any other glue you would need a solvent but likely not for Elmers. You may have to sponge/blot several times. Don't soak it too much though because you don't want to get the carpet pad wet.
A do-it-yourself carpet cleaner should also take care of it.
I would try a steam cleaner. My son left an entire on this floor without closing the lid. So by the time we found it, the whole thing was dried into the carpet. At that point, it was too late. Steam cleaning did get some of it out. I think that might help you, unless it was an entire bottle glued all the way down to the base of the carpet. Good luck
If it is a recent spill pour water on it. That will make the glue thinner and much easier to clean. Then a steam cleaner or professional carpet cleaner could get it out much easier.
