I have an 11 week old who found her thumb last night. Well now today she is having a hard time with naps due to she can't seem to remember how she got to her thumb. Do any of you remember having little ones who had this problem. Does it just take them a while to finally remember how to put their thumb in? Is there a time will they will know how to better find their thumb?

What can I do next?

You can guide her thumb to her mouth. She is still learning how to move her arms around, she's not really aware her hand is a part of her yet, so mastery is a bit difficult at this point. Helping her find her thumb is fine, she'll get the hang of it..

I agree with the other moms. When my daughter was first born she started sucking her thumb, it was cute but now her teeth are all messed up and growing in wrong. So I beg you to give her a pacifer.

Thumbsucking is a habit you should not encourage. Give her a pacifier instead. It will be easier to break her of it later.
My son just turned 1 and uses his pacifier when he is tired. I am going to start weaning him off it now that he just turned 1.

If you want her to have her thumb you can help her find it, it won't take long till she can find it herself.
If you don't want her to have it give her a pacifier - if she'll take one. Some kids just prefer the thumb and refuse to take a paci.

My son was a paci junky - I hated it. That is, till I had my daughter the thumbsucker. She's now 3 1/2 and still going strong, whereas we took the paci away from my son at 2.

well you can help her by putting the thumb in her mouth for her, but she will find it on her on trust me me youngest kept putting hers in her mouth even with me fighting her on it . I tryed so hard to get her to use the pacifier, but she would have no part in it and now i can't seem to break her of it she's two and nothing seems to work. With my three year old she used a pacifer and we took it away at 1 1/2 and that for me was much easier. Good luck and congrats on your new baby girl!
