Successful Weight Loss While Taking an Antidepressant

Hi I am currently taking Remeron for my anxiety and depression, as well as sleep issues. One of the side effects is weight gain. It sucks because it helps me so much in so many ways, but since I started taking it back in August, Ive gained atleast 10lbs, maybe more(Im scared to weigh myself, but know Ive gained because none of my clothes fit). I want to continue to take it since it helps tremendously with my horrible anxiety episodes and my insomnia, but I cannot afford to buy new clothes, and its making my self esteem go way down. I am normally tall and pretty slender, but Ive had 3 kids, the youngest is almost 2yrs old & Ive NEVER weighed this much after Ive had a baby. I still look like Im about 5-6months pregnant and have had some very ignorant people ask if Im expecting again(NO, had my tubes tided!) so all the weight sits right in the middle. I was trying at 1st to loose the weight I put on, watching what I was eating, walking/running at the local track and exercising at my home... but I gave up at about 6 weeks of seeing no results. Soooooo, my question is if anyone has ever taken Remeron or any other med that has caused weight gain, and you were able to continue taking the meds and successfully loose weight. I know I shouldnt of given up, but I have 3 small and busy boys, one who has mild Autism, so I never had any free time to work on me, but maybe if I heard some success stories, Id be a bit more hopeful... Thanks in advance :)

What can I do next?

I would talk to my doctor and let him know that I am concerned about the weight gain. When I started taking Lexapro, weight gain was a concern of mine, so he added Wellbutrin to it. I still gained some weight but I know it is because I am not eating right or exercising enough and not because of the meds.
Gaining weight can lead into more self esteem issues, anxiety and depression. It is such a viscious circle but I know I am not ready to try to loose my weight yet and i am ok with that for now.

I have two friend who lost weight doing the HCG diet (homeopathic HCG drops and a very low calorie diet) while on anti-depressents. Talk to your doctor about whether that might be a possibility for you...

How about a successful med switch? Trazadone worked as well for depression/sleep but did NOT make me feel like I was STARVING all the time like the Remeron.....
