Strollers for Tall Parents

I'm in the market for a new stroller. I'm 5'11' and my hubby is 6'2" so it has to comfortable for tall folks to use :) Right now I have a Chicco Liteway. I like it but I'm not crazy about it. I live in NYC so it has to be lightweight and easy to fold. I also don't want to spend more than $250. Suggestions?

Thanks,

N.

So What Happened?

After much debate and research I've decided to get the Peg Perego Si. It has retractable handles that telescope out so its ideal for tall parents. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm sooo there. I'm 6'! But my mother in law got an amazing travel system from (of all places) Wal Mart!!!! I can't remember exactly what it was called but I know it was a Graco. Pink and Brown. The stroller handles hit above my belly button. It was only 3 years ago and I know they have very similar ones. Sorry I can't remember more!

I wish i had an answer! I too am tall. And it is so difficult to hunch over while pushing the stroller and keep your purse on your shoulder. I have heard about the extensions-but never seen any. I am sure a google search would bring you to some.

I know you have a budget in mind which this is over City Select. Its amazing an you can move the bar up and down. Grandpa is 6'1' and would only push this at disney world because the others made his back hurt. It converts easy to a two person stroller which we know do and is great

I am 6'2 and so is daddy, we skipped the stroller all together and wore our son. I got a cloth baby carrier that you wrapped around so we could both use it easily at any time. It seems difficult at first but once you do it a few times it's nothing. There are TONS of youtube videos on these and you can easily watch tutorials, see other's reviews of products and such to figure out the best one for you. I had 3 different kinds of baby wearer products and loved them all, two were JUST for me and one was shareable, I esp loved the one that was made for water fun!

Look for a Baby Jogger City Mini ($200). Its best features imo are the sunshade, the material's ruggedness, the easy maneuverabilty, and the smooth ride. The storage is plenty ample too. The lightness and fold...okay, I guess I love a lot about it.
They have em on display at Buy Buy Baby if you want to see em in person. We love our double and if I'd researched more, would have gotten the single with my first. We walk about 6 miles a day (for 2 years now) with the BJCM double. I put my son it it at 5 days old with a kiddapotumus snuzzler on full recline. Now my sons are 2 and 4 and about 40 pounds each and still fit/enjoy the ride. We bought a kickboard you can attach to the back for my 4 year old to stand on when I have my 3rd (due soon).
My hubby is 6 foot and likes it too. They also have a jogging one if you want bigger wheels for jogging around.
If you buy at diapers.com, they have free shipping to you and 365 return policy with free shipping back if you don't like it). I buy/return tons of stuff there.

Wish I had an answer for you. I'm only 5'7" but I still felt like the umbrella stroller handles were always too short and I was always kicking the bottom of the stroller as I walked. My husband, who is 6'4", could never push our daughter for very long in an umbrella stroller because he would be hunched over and his back would end up hurting. You would think that they would make umbrella strollers with adjustable handles - kind of telescoping - so you could adjust them as needed.

Good luck. Hope you're able to find something.

You really need to "test drive" them. My brother in law (6'4") and sister in law are both tall and they love their McClaren. We are not super tall but love it anyway - we bought it because our 2nd is heavy! At 16 months he is 31lbs! Our new McClaren is good until 55 lbs. We had a Chicco as well, the C something and loved it but it only goes to 35 lbs. Good luck! C.

Most jogging strollers have taller handles. I also had a Emmaljunga (european perambulator) that had a nice tall handle. I hate having to stoop the few times we used the umbrella stroller. A high end baby store will have models on the floor to test, and will often match online prices with shipping.

My kids are teens so it's been a while - but I know exactly your complaint - I feel the same way about the vacuum and mops! Why should we tall girls spend our lives bent over?

I don't know what's available these days but when my kids were young "one step ahead" sold extendable stroller handles. It made a huge difference.

Good luck mama!
