Strollers - Tampa,FL

When I purchased my 8 month old's stroller (Graco metrolight) I didn't know how important it would be for the sun shade to move forward as well as fully extend to cover the child completely. I'm now back on the stroller market looking for a new stroller that has this feature. I still want a snack tray and storage. I would like something light weight.

I saw today the Peg Peregos but I'm not sure I should invest $350 on a single stroller when we may be having another baby in the next year or so. So should I invest or should I go with the heavier less expensive stroller that has the moveable sunshade. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Dear S.,
If you really like your stroller but just dislike the shade part, consider buying an extra shade. Go to www.onestepahead.com and type in ray shade. It is about $15 dollars and I have seen it in public even though I have never used it. I have had about 4 strollers and they almost all fall short in the sun shade department (my son will only be 2 in 2 weeks). My current stroller Jeep All-terrain fits all of your criteria but is quite large. Good luck. K.

I used the Graco Coach rider. This was nice bc the baby can face you or outward and the sunshade goes all the way back or forward, also it lays completely down so they can go to sleep in a restaurant. It has been great. We actually got 2.

IF money is a concern for you at these are kind of on the high side, but in my opinion the best places to shop are the kids consignment shops. I have a couple near me I could recomend, but I am not sure how far you guys live. I would look into the phonebook for consignement shops for kids and take a day and go visit them. The is where we get everything and it is all like practically new and half the price.

Just as a side note I plan on selling my 2 coach rider strollers soon at a consignment, but if you are interested and don't mind them being used, I would be willing to talk to you privately...either way you should check out the consignment shops in your neighborhood and just see what you think.

If your goal is just to block your baby from the sun, maybe you could buy a yard of SolarVeil fabric to drape over the opening of the stroller. I used this to make a sling for my middle baby and it keeps the harmful rays away.

If you are expecting another baby, I would recommend the Graco carriage that comes with the car seat. It's not heavy, has the sunshade that will move forward to cover the sun coming in at your baby, plus you get the infant car seat for your new baby. The carriage has the tray also. The whole set costs between $80 and I believe $130. Another place you could look is a website called www.onestepahead.com. I just got a catalog in the mail, didn't see the kind of stroller you're looking for but perhaps there is one on the website, or maybe something you can attach to the stroller you already have (they have all sorts of things from bottle warmers and child proofing locks to strollers and toys).
