Hi,
I am pregnant with my 2nd child. My son is 15.5 months. We need to get a double stroller. We are debating whether to go with a front/back stroller or a side-by-side stroller. Any recommendations on which to go with and then a good brand that you like? We have a Graco Travel System and plan to use the carrier and are hoping to have a stroller that can hold it, be it Graco or another brand. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I would recommend a front back stroller. We have the Graco travel system front/back and it does work nicely in the mall where the aisles in stores are narrow. I know many people with a side to side one, and most of them are too wide for shopping and dont have the ability to put the car seat in it.
Just my two cents! Good luck to you! My kids are 17 months apart and the stroller worked great for us!

I have twins and the front to back was better, I had both. I hardly used the side to side too wide to go shopping in stores with narrow aisles and people always bumped into it and more difficult in crowds.

Go front to back. Some like the eddie bauer you can change the direction the seat face so the kids coudl face each other as they get older.

Hi S.!
I prefer the Graco front to back stroller. I find it's easier to manuever through doorways, store aisles and it folds down easily. It doesn't take up too much room in the back of my van. And a Graco car seat fits into it when you use the lap bars. I got mine from Sears about 3 years ago and it still is holding up great. I know Burlington Coat Factory has a great baby section-
Baby Depot I think it's called. I use mine almost on a daily basis for my daycare kids.

I have a MacClaren Twin Techno and love it. My son is 3 and my daughter is 7 months now. You can use it from newborn and up. It's a side by side, I can fit through doorways fine.

for our two who were close in age like yours we had a front ot back double stroller. It was a graco we got it from Walmart. It was great. It easily fit through doorways and aisles in the stores. We put our son (The younger on in the back and our Daughter in the front.) we had it for 2 years with both kids and when our son got older we swtiched the seats. Daughter in back becuase she got heavier and son in front which made it easier to stear.

OK, this is what I did. My daughter was 21 months when my son was born and I couldn't afford a 2 seater stroller for the first couple months, so I put the older child in the stroller and used a front carrier for the baby. I used the front carrier until my son didin't fit in it, then I bought a sit and stand stroller by Joovy. They sell it at Babies R Us. It's the only sit and stand they carry. It's great! It's light, folds really flat so it don't take up too much room in the trunk, and is really easy to manuever. It also has straps to buckle the child in the rear in so they can't get up. My son is 20 months and is ok sitting in the back when he is strapped in, so if you got it now, you should still be ok. It does have the capability to put a carrier on it also for the newborn.

Hi, I have 5 kids and have had several strollers. I never did end up getting the side by side stroller was tempted. I'm pretty sure you couldn't put an infant seat on it and it was more for when the baby was at least a few months old. They didn't have the infant seat/stroller systems when I had my first two and it was a pain getting them up and putting them in the stroller especially if they were sleeping. I had the sit-n-stand when my fourth child was born and it worked really well. It had a place to put almost any type of infant seat on it but my older son that used it was over 3 so I think that made a difference. I don't know how well it would work if your child was much younger. The last baby I had (about 3.5 years ago) I bought the Graco front/back stroller. It was really great. The only think was that it was big fitting it in the car. It was really easy to to put the infant seat in and out and for my older son to be in the back. Sometimes I had trouble fitting through aisles with this stroller so I figured it was probably better I never got the side by side. Best of luck to you.

Hi S.! I have a sit and stand stroller for my 2 year old and my 4 month old. It's perfect for my 2 year old who never wants to sit in the stroller but I'm not sure if your son would be too young for that. You might want to look into it. If so, I got mine at Babies-R-Us. I know Target has one similar.

I have 2 small children and wondered the same thing about a double stroller. I have used both and will honestly say that a front back model is much easier to get through a crowd. The side by side models take up a lot of room. also I don't think they can be used with an infant carrier. Good luck with your decision

Graco just came out with a new double stroller, the Quattro Duo. We "test drove" it last week at Baby Depot and liked it a lot, just not the pattern they offered at that store. The front is for a toddler and the back can accomodate the carrier. We'll be getting one closer to our due date this fall.

Hi S.:

I had the side by side and I loved it. I liked it because both kids had thier own side of the stroller and one wasn't in the back. No one was squished. They were equal and there was nothing to fight about. I'm sure everything will be great no matter what you choose though, good luck!!!!

Hi S.! I have never used either but have plenty of friends who have. They all have said the side by side stroller is tough to get through doorways because of how wide it is. Hope this helps you!

DEFINATELY go front to back! We got a Graco one and liked it very much and still use it and our kids are 3 1/2 and 6 1/2. It's a little heavy to push but they all are. I always wonder what people were thinking when they get the side by sides. They are too wide to go so many places. Forget shopping at the mall....most stores we won't be able to walk anywhere but the main aisles. Yes, it would be nice for the kids to be side by side but then again they can touch each other more (more fighting) and if one wants to sleep, is the other one going to let that happen? The side by sides look harder to push too since your arms have to be farther apart when pushing. Just my opinion but I've seen soooo many people struggling with the side by side. When you're kids get older and can get in and out themselves all you have to do is remove the trays and they can easily climb in and out even from the back as my daughter does it all the time. Good Luck!

I had the same problem not knowing what to buy I now have two, it's exactly like they said my side by side jogging stroller is awesome easy to push glides or bumbs, but you can't put an infant carrier in it and it is wide so it's impossible to get through store isles,(great for walks though) my front to back I have a Jeep, I hate! my son has to go up front so the baby can go in the infant carrier which makes it difficult to push and there is no five point harness up from so it will be a long time before the baby goes up front,it was the lightest one on the market in my price range at the time, however it fits through all the isles and has tons of compartments and is much easier in and out of the car,I have seen the sit and stands and I wished I had bought one!lighter smaller and my 22 month old at the time never wanted to stay sitting long. I also learned with baby stuff you get what you pay for, and they sure are expensive so I asked for the strollers as baby gifts from the grandparents.Target has really nice ones but make sure you have a five point harness, the front seats on the front to back are small so eventually you'll wanna but the baby up front and check the recalls I show some scary stuff on some brand I almost bought, I always read the reviews.oh yeah and congrats!!!

I recomend the front/back type. I suggest this only becuase it is hard to go alot of places with a regular width stroller. A double stroller is even bigger so I can only imagine that it would be tough to get through some of the stores with one.
