front ot back has been better for us --twins--the stroller fits thru doorways as the side by side that we also have does not fit thru all doorways and I have gotten stuck more than once with the side by side. I also find the front to back one easier to fold and lift into the car for transport. the side by side is fun for walks and jogging around the neighborhood.

We have a side by side Combi double stroller. I really like it it is super easy to fold and folds really compactly. It is also very light and has a backpack type strap which makes it very easy to carry. I have 7 month old and a 2 1/2 year old and they both really like riding in it. It is very easy to steer never had any problems with it. Hope this helps

we borrowed one (try before buying as they can be expensive new) and ours is the front and back. we have used it for over one year and really like it. it is easier to shop with because it isnt as wide. also can get through most doors pretty easy. make sure whatever one you get, that at least one of the seats can fully recline for the baby.

Hi H.,

Not sure if you will get a partial response and this one?! Not sure what happened with the email there . . . anyway congratulations on your twins. My husband and I are also expecting twins. The advice that has been given to me is to go with a front/back verses side by side. The front/back is easier to manuever and get through tight shopping and other isle ways. We ordered a stroller frame (must purchase car seats seperatly) from www.doubledeckerstroller.com. This is a three wheel model frame that car seats lock into. Have not gotten it yet through. Best of luck to you.

H.,

We had twin boys about 7 years ago, and got a front/back two seater. It was great.

Some points in favor are:

Narrower, allows you to go more places, running into less people.

Seating arrangement means that they are too far away too hit each other (not a big deal right now, but it may be in the future.

But the biggest feature came not as a parent, but as a pedestrian. If you are in a store with the double wide, there is just no room for anyone else in that aisle.

Good luck!

depending on the age span and temperment of the older child, i recently got a baby trend sit n stand stroller (tried the joovey one from babies r us, and hated it, returned it after only one day) anyways, i LOVE it, my children are about 18 mos apart, and the older one absolutely loves that he has more independence-- the biggest con is that he cannot take naps in if, but since he is already 2.5 yrs old, he doesn't really nap when we're out anyways =) it has an attachment so almost any infant carrier can fit on it too. Also, i like that it is only the width of the tandem strollers, but it isn't nearly as long, so it is pretty easy to maneuver too =) well, that is just my opinion from what i have, this is the only double stroller that I have ever gotten so i don't really know about the others. Hope this helps you out

I only have one child, but have a friend with twins, and going places with her and her double stroller, I can say that a front and back (rather than side by side) seems like it would be easier. The side by side seems pretty wide for places like the mall, zoo, or busy places.

Just an opinion from observation - not use.

I have twins and have never tried a side by side, but my sister in law had one and HATED it as she found it impossible to get into a lot of doorways. I have a tandem by Graco and I like it fine, they are only 5 months old but so far so good. OF course there are alot of more expensive options out there but like I said the tandem graco stroller works great for us. The only side by side I would bother with is getting two umbrella strollers and buying the clip to clip them together but that would only be in addition to the tandem I already own. Just for travel and what not but not as my regular stroller.
Hope that helps some.

I have 2 children plus I do daycare and have had in the past a front and back stroller adn they are okay but as they get oldert the kids fight over who is going to be in the front and there is hair pulling pushing hitting and the infamous I can't see whine. So now I have the side by sides much easier and less fighting.

I found that my girls were pulling hair and fighting about who gets to go in front with our front and back type. This was due to the fact that the back seat was not higher that the front and the one in back could not see. I have noticed that in alot of the new ones they fixed that problem. If you have an older kid in the back that might also help because they are taller. I have twins so that was not the case with me. I ended up ditching the stroller very eairly on and got a wagon that I could strap them into, worked much better for me.

I have a 1-1/2 yr. old and bought a single Graco with a Snugfit carseat and liked it so much that I'll be getting a Graco double stroller called a duoglider when my 2nd arrives in late September. I don't think the side by side would fit through isles as well as the duoglider would. Good luck in your decision. You may want to read the reviews on stroller on the www.babiesrus.com website or epinions.com might have reviews for you as well.

Congrats on the twins! When I had my twins, I really preferred the front and back double stroller since it was easier to manuever through doorways, store aisles, etc. When both seats were laid flat, I even had room for another child to sit . Good luck!

I recently had a second child and chose to get the Graco Duoglider. I love it. I have a 2 month old and a 2 year old and it works just fine for me. The only down fall to a front and back one is the length. I have a minivan so I have no problem with that but you might want to think of how a double stroller will fit in your vehicle. I hear that side by sides are better for kids very close in age...like twins. But I found them hard to manuever in small places, especially in a mall trying to look at clothes. Hopefully this helps.

I have 2 girls, 3 and 1, and I got the front/ back kind, and it is really hard to turn. I ended up getting a side by side jogging stoller, which works good for the zoo or walks. The only time the front back one worked better is when the little one was in the infant car seat or for manuvering around those tiny aisles at the mall or stores. They make such nice side by side ones, and they are lighter then the other kind too! Good luck.

I also think front/back is better than side by side. It's skinnier for small spaces, most allow the infant carseat to snap in or recline flat for a newborn, and the one in back can see over the front if their seat is a bit elevated. We have the Graco DuoGlider and it works well. I also like front/back because my kids can't reach each other. If we had side by side, they'd be whopping on each other the whole time. :)

Another option....if your older child is over 3, you may want to consider a sit n stand stroller. My son is over 40 lbs, and the DuoGlider got REALLY hard to steer with so much weight in the front. The sit n stand is much easier and allows him to get in and out as much as he wants.

Good Luck!
