Strange Smell Downstairs--help!

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have had a very strong acidic, almost vinegar-smell to my discharge for a couple of weeks. I went to my doctor and he did all the cultures he could, but the results came back normal! Now what?! This is my 3rd pregnancy, and I've never had this happen before! Have any of you moms ever experienced this vinegary smell down there before? If so, how did you get rid of it?? I've been pretty lucky (until now) with no weirdness/infection in that area, and consider my hygiene habits to be stellar, in case that factors into your advice :) Can anyone help a girl out?

What can I do next?

Can you get in a tub? I say this because I could NOT when I was preggers, but if you CAN sit in a tub of warm - NOT HOT, just enough to be comfortable in with some baking soda, let her soak - splash around - do not rub or anything like that then pat dry and lay on the bed legs wide open and let yourself air dry. Try to exfoliate around your thighs and such to see if there is dead skin adding to the drama as well but NEVER exfoliate near the lips or in the vaginal region. Wear dresses skirts for a few days with no undies and when you can sit VERY UNladylike to help air out. Your body changes and the chemistry changes with each pregnancy and you may want to cut back on the acidic foods yourself it could be part of the problem.

It might be your prenatal. Sometimes changing that to something else, can change everything. I've had friends change their prenatal to some more natural, based on whole foods, rather than synthetic vitamins from the OB...and smells, textures of their skin, etc all changed. Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter is a really popular one with quality ingredients. Try it for a month and see how everything goes.

You might consider taking PB8 daily to keep normal bacterial growth in your intestines. It's good for your immune system and the baby's skin....and it can help the pH stay perfect for you.

My dr said that it was due to a change in my body chemistry and sweat. These were a few things I did:
1. I used baby wipes to stay clean.
2. I waxed. (probably TMI - but I just wanted a clean feeling)
3. I put baby powder on before getting dressed.

It will change back after you give birth. :)

Every so often, I take a warm bath and mix 1 cup of plain yogurt in the water.
My skin loves it and it seems to put a stop to yeast infections.
Be sure to drink plenty of fluids because especially when pregnant, you are peeing for 2 and your urine can get concentrated/strong pretty quickly.

Hi there. Not sure if it has a fishy smell, but this is for you to decide. Gardnerella could be a possibility. You'd need antibiotics. If so, this could be helpful.

Good luck!

Omg that was so me with both pregnancies lol. Just part of your body's chemistry. I would just use panty liners and change them often. Not a whole lot u can do except what the other post stated about letting it air out and wearing skirts with no panties. After the baby is born it will go away so don't worry girl. Congrats and happy pregnancy.
