I've done a google search for the perfect storage bench, but can't find one that I like. Therefore, I thought I'd start searching specific stores, but I'm out of ideas as to where to look. Does anyone know of other stores like Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrell, Pier 1 Imports, Cost Plus World Market, Hardware Restoration, etc. I am looking for extra storage in our foyer. I specifically need a wooden storage bench that fits baskets and also has a matching overhead storage piece that has coat hooks and room for additional baskets. I usually see them at crate & barrell and pottery barn, but this time they look a little too country.

My husband builds costume furniture. He can build you exactly what you want. You can tell him sizes he can draw up a design for you to approve and he can build it with the wood you like, the color you want, and you can have exactly what you have pictured in your head. If you are interested send me a personal message and I can send you his website that will show you pictures of his work.
Have you looked at knockoffwood.com? Ana makes EASY building plans for all sorts of knock off furniture pieces, including Pottery Barn, West Elm, etc. All of her plans are free. She has a beautiful storage bench in her plans. And, she makes her plans so that even I can do them (and that says a LOT!).

I think Jackie has a great idea of perhaps finding a furniture builder, and you may be surprised at the cost comparison.
We have a store, Simply Amish (http://simplyamish.com/), here locally, but I know they have stores nationally where you can customize just about anything. I originally was skeptical that everything would be oak and completely NOT my style as I'm like you and prefer the stores you listed.
We had some gorgeous maple tables built a few years ago when we couldn't find anything in the stores we liked. Pottery Barn had the style, but not the color, etc.
Also, IKEA, believe it or not, has some good overhead storage units I was thinking about that have both space for baskets and perhaps hooks on the underside. Of course, I can't find it quickly on the website to provide you a link. But, they have it throughout the stores.
