When I had a large entry way I choose a sofa table with drawers. I now have an entire dresser in the entry hall which is rather wide and long. That particular dresser was too long to make the turn towards the bedrooms but too small for the front bedroom so it kindof works out. It also serves for storage of the towels and washclothes since I have no linen closet.
check out Ikea, Target and other furniture stores for something that will properly fit your space.
There is a place here which has unfinished wood and will finish it for you in the color you want this can be expensive but doesn't have to.
