M.,
Could you wait a few more days? Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings....
You can find a lot of stocking stuffers for those age ranges at most dollar stores.
My daughter, who is almost 3, LOVES the little mini containers of Play-doh: you can buy them at walgreens and other stores like that for REALLY cheap, and they are just the right amount for a little hand (and inside a stocking!).
Little pads of paper with a colored pencil(s) to go along with it are always fun: I would also suggest visiting your local Michaels arts and crafts store. They have lots of fun, cheap, and easy art things for children (appropriate for your daughter and son).
My daughter also loves these little playsets from the Disney store that come with 5-6 little plastic characters - they have Tinkerbell and her fairy friends, the princesses, Handy Manny, and virtually any disney movie or tv show themed. They are $5-$6 per set, and there is a huge selection of options for both boys and girls.
I got my son some cars from Toys R Us and they were $3 a piece. Not too bad and those are going in his stocking. I'm limited because my son is not old enough. What about bubbles? They would have to be used with supervision, but they seem to like those. Balls?
Hello! I also have a 22 month old boy (turns two end of January :-). for his stocking I have some bubbles (50 cents at Michaels) I also have some art supplies I got on clearance, wooden airplane/car toys (dollar aisle at Target - recently, might still have some), a small stuffed animal (dollar aisle at Target), I also have a toothbrush and toothpaste, and will probably add some socks and few treats. The Walgreens ad has a coupon for Hot Wheels (this weekend only) for 49 cents each.
Good luck! I hope you get enough good ideas...stockings are hard not to make too expensive. It all adds up fast :-)
are there any good secondhand/thrift stores in your area? Our local library has a 'friends of the library' bookstore and it's got an awesome selection of children's books and many of the paperbacks are in practically new condition and only $0.50 - $1.00. Since my girls (who just turned 7) love to read, even our 'tooth fairy' shops at this bookstore ;-). Since a lot of dollar-store stuff is kind of flimsy, I'd much rather buy a good-quality secondhand item instead of a cheesy new item.
What kinds of things does your 22MO like to play with in his daycare? that might give you some ideas of what to get.
Oh and I also will get practical things and put in their stockings - toothbrushes, pencils, hair clips, toothpaste, cute socks.... and clementine tangerines are colorful and cute and the perfect size to put in stockings... the fun is in pulling things out of the stocking and my kids don't mind that some of the things are items I would've had to buy anyway.
