totally normal! anyone who tells you that you can't have a period if you are breastfeeding (even exclusively) doesn't know what they are talking about! I have breastfed all of mine and started my period 2-6 months after giving birth!

Totally normal. With both of my children I had my period back within the first 3 months! It happens unfortunately. Just remember that you are fertile and can get pregnant again! Nursing is not protecting us from having more children! It's time to be careful! :)

Totally normal:) There are many women who don't get their periods as long as they are breastfeeding at least every 5 hours at night and every 3 hours during the day. But many also get their periods back no matter how much they nurse. It's important for women to chart fertility cycles while breastfeeding to make sure they aren't ovulating. You ovulate before you menstruate, so it's important to know when you're about to ovulate.
Anyhow, nothing to worry about! Most women get their periods back once baby starts solids and has fewer nursing sessions and/or sleeps longer at night.

Nursing does inhibit your period coming back but once baby is nursing less often you can get it back at any time. Like the previous poster said they have to be nursing at least every 3 hours during the day and every 5 at night. That way your body is releasing the hormone that inhibits your period (and thus your fertility) often enough to usually keep you from ovulating/menustrating. Once it becomes less than that it will come back. Some people even sooner, every woman is different. Just make sure you have some type of birth control plan in place now that your body is going back to it's normal cycle. It may not be entirely regular for the first few months, some shorter periods, some longer, maybe more often then once every 4 weeks, but eventually it will get back into a regular cycle.

It's normal. As your baby gets older and solids are introduced, your baby's needs change. I nursed my twins and my period came back at 10 months. It happens.

Very normal. I mean, anytime you are concerned, by all means, call your Dr. But you can get your period anytime, even when breastfeeding. With my first I got it around 15mos, second around 6mos. You CAN have peekaboo periods too. Comes and goes. I don't know if that is the technical name for it or not, but it happened to me the second time around. I was like, Oh! I got my period )-: Oh! I don't have my period.. am I pregnant?? Oh! I got my period... seriously! LOL!

Totally normal!

Mine came back around 5.5 months while exclusively breastfeeding my son. That was close to the peak of my breastmilk production.

I googled the subject, and I'm really frustrated that NO credible medical information pulled on the first page of Google in results. I personally don't trust information unless it's posted through a physician or accredited medical website. A recent research study released showed that up to 60% of health information online is inaccurate. Kind of scary.

I got mine when my son was 3 months old. It depends on your body - some women won't get a period while nursing, others are ovulating regularly. It doesn't say anything about you, your nursing, or your body except that you had better use protection if you don't want another little tiny one on the way right away. ^_~

Totally normal, and be prepared for a super long or short period too along with spotting and stopping weirdness. I nursed both children and didn't start my periods again until 8 months after they were born with both. Also be prepared for decreased milk supply during your periods and don't get freaked out by it. It's normal and you can combat it with plenty of hydration and the usual things like nursing more often, warm showers etc...

I managed to avoid mine for a year, but I had some spotting around four months that I thought was the end. Don't be surprised if you don't get it again for a while...especially if you are still exclusively breastfeeding. You can get pregnant whether you are getting a period or not.

Yep, I got mine at 7 weeks postpartum. I was also nursing more than the minimum. Lucky me. Since he is probably nursing less now, it is pretty common to get it back even though you are still nursing. Nothing to worry about!

Like the others have said, it's totally normal. My son is strictly breastfed, and I got my period back when he was only 3 months old. (He's now six months.) It's not completely regular like it was before getting pregnant, but I know that can take some time. With my daughter who's 4 1/2 now, I got it back when she was 5 months old. It was very regular from the get-go after having her.
If you do have any questions/concerns, don't hesitate to contact your doctor.
