Okay, so when my husband went to take the turkey out of the pan on Thanksgiving it slipped and splattered his tee shirt. I did not know just how bad until after I washed it and dried it. Any suggestions on how to get the spots out of tee? It is one of his favs and I would love to get those spots out. Thanks!

So What Happened?

First, thank you to all of those who gave advice. Second, I sort of cheated as in I used Dawn dish soap because I had it on hand and I only had it on the shirt for a couple of hours. However, I would say 90% of the stain came out, so I will try again leaving it on longer this time! I have used Shout gel and Ivory bar soap before, but some things just won't come out with those. Again thank you to everyone and Happy Holidays!

Hi J.,
I see several others have suggested Dawn dishwashing detergent. I tworks! I have accidentally dried something in the drier only to discover that the stain had not come out and Dawn worked! Work it in to the fabric, add a little water to get some suds forming, then let it sit for a while to work on removing the grease. Then wash as normal...I use Oxiclean in each load with Seventh Generation detergent. Good luck!

I would try Oxyclean for the stain or just spray it with Super Strength Greased Lightening. It is a degreaser and stain remover combined. While managing a deli, I found the latter to really whitening and remove stains on dishtowels and aprons. Good luck.

I know this is going to sound strange but the best stain remover I have found is Simple Green. You know, the cleaning product that you use in your garage or for cleaning the stove. I was at my wits end with a stain on my sons shirt one day and had tried everything I could think of. Considering the shirt was going in the garbage anyway, my mom grabbed the Simple Green as a last resort. It actually took out the red Kool-Aid stain almost instantly. Since then our whole family keeps a bottle in the laundry room and it has worked on all the toughest stains. And it doesn't damage the clothes at all. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

**Simple Green,
**Mean Green (Dollar General has two eyes on the bottle, white bottle with orange and green accents)
Not sure if this is a White shirt or not but if it is I alwas used dishwasher soap and put some of that on it and than let it soak for awhile
If you have kids and have the Dreft spray or Oxy Baby I use that on everything too and have used it after I have dried things and it has come out.

If it is turkey splatter, I assume part of the stain is due to grease. Try Dawn or any other grease lifting dish soap.

I use GOOP for all my deep laundry stains. It's normally used by mechanics and such to clean their dirty, greasy hands, but can also be used on laundry...I've gotten out grease, grass stains, blood....quite a bit with GOOP...even after they've been through the washer. To use it, just rub a little on the spot, let it set for a few minutes then wash, it works like a charm! You can find it in the automotive section at wal-mart though occassionally I find it in with kitchen and laundry cleaners (usually next to the dryer sheets and stain removers).

Grease stains - easy as 1,2,3.

Concentrated dishwashing liquid...Dawn does work best. Put the laundry soap on without adding water. Let it sit overnight with the stain saturated with dish soap. Add it to the laundry, and wash as usual...it will be gone.

Having worked in a restaraunt for years I know all about how to get butter, olive oil, and assorted spills out of clothing.

I've never tried this but read that you can pour boiling water (hold it over the sink)over grease stains in clothes and it will come out. Not sure if it'll work once it's been thru the washer/dryer, but worth a try.

I am the biggest believer in Dawn dish soap. Just put a couple of dabs on the stains and let it sit for a few minutes and then wash it. It works great on grease stains.

You could try making a paste out of water and baking soda, rub it on the stain, let it sit for a few hrs then wash as usual.

Two words... Fels Naptha :)

I have recommended it to many people on mamasource. My Mom, MIL, SIL, and a couple friends have switched to it too. I absolutely love it! It is a bar soap that you rub onto the stain. Just wet the area a bit and rub the bar right on it. I have even "shaved" a little of the bar into the washer when I'm not sure if something will get out (such as a crayon mess I once had!).

It may be a little difficult to find, as I've had some moms ask me where to get it. Look in your local grocery store by the other stain removal products for clothes... it's usually on the bottom shelf (or just ask the grocer). It is WAY CHEAPER and works better than some of the other products too. In my town, I only pay $1.00 for it... and it lasts a looong time :)

I can't say that it hasn't worked on anything for me yet. Good luck with your stain. If you have any questions, let me know. I have got many of my family and friends "hooked" on it.

Did you dry it in the dryer? If so, it's probably a lost cause, but I would try Fels Naptha soap. It is a bar soap for laundry that our Grandma's used. It can be hard to find, I've never seen it at Target, but I can get it at Lund's, and mom and pop stores.

I see you already have this solution, but Dawn does work really good on grease stains...if it has been dried in the dryer, you will probably have to rub the soap in really good to get it out totally.

J.-- there is a fairly new product that I have discovered and had some great success with. Shout Advanced. It is in a predominantly blue spray bottle. My daughter gets into all kinds of messes that I don't find til after the wash. Sometimes it takes more than one wash but Shout Advanced usually does the trick. Good Luck!

I would try Charilies soap all purpose spray cleaner. You can find it at www.charliesoap.com. I love the stuff...it cleans anything. My son cracked his head...it was awful...and got blood all over a white T-shirt. Charlies cleaned it up completely. You do have to let it set for a while...rub it in with a toothbrush and scrub a couple times.
