Be careful if scalping: I recently heard there are a lot of counterfeit tickets being sold for the new (and fabulous) stadium. I think Craigslist is a good idea, but I would also be careful to avoid fakes. Have fun!
So, we're in the Twin Cities and my husband has an abiding love of baseball. As probably only people from Minnesota know, our new baseball stadium opened this year and my husband's solemn request for his birthday was to go to the home game scheduled that evening.
So, the minute general ticket sales were open, there I was online with several sets of seats picked out. "Honey...Come take a look at these seats. Which ones do you want? Which spot in the stadium looks best?". Well, I guess the burden of making such a momentous choice was just too much for him. We delayed buying the tickets and that game and almost every other game for the season is now sold out.
We have been checking StubHub...But here's our latest plan. We'll just head downtown that evening and check at will-call and with scalpers to see if we can get tickets at a reasonable price. Has anyone done this at the new stadium? Are the prices from stadium-front scalpers absolutely outrageous?
I have bought from scalpers in the past but never during a sports season where the tickets are so hot hot hot and so I just wondered if any mamas (or DHs) can tell me what to expect?
UPDATE: scalping became legal in MN a few yrs ago.

http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/ticketing/singlegame.jsp?c... or www.stubhub.com
We live in Mpls and bought off of StubHub the day before the game. There were service charges, etc and we could have probably found tickets for the same amount of money from a scalper. i am hesitant to use Craigs List unless they are hard tickets. (stub hub we did get etickets and i was ok with that). Scalpers are abundant by the Target Center and Target Field. Wherever you get the tickets it was SO worth it to see our Twins play outside. Target Field is so beautiful. there really isnt a bad seat in the house. This time of year, sun vs shade makes a huge difference. Have fun and GO TWINS!
There are a few bars and restaurants that have tickets available for a lot of games (or can get them for you.) Try calling Gabe's by the Park in Saint Paul - they have a deal where you get a ticket and a beer (at their place) plus a free shuttle ride to and from the game.
I agree that Ebay is a very good option. You may also need to wait until closer to the date of the game. Many season ticket holders wait until just a couple of weeks before the game to put them up. I have only been happy with the tickets I've purchased on Ebay.
I just used StubHub for the first time and was not happy with the results. Seats looked way better than they were, but that was just one transaction.
I hope you can find some.

I've seen tickets on Craigslist for about every twins game yet.
I have not been to the new stadium, but grew up in NYC,. there the price for scalped tickets depended on the event, if it was sold out, etc. If you try to go opening day expect to pay more. you may also want to check out the scalping laws. In NYC it was illegal and you would loose your $$ if you bought a ticket from an undercover cop. Also make sure you know what the tickets look like so you don't get sold a bogus ticket.
good luck!
Another option is craigslist...people often sell tickets to events when they can't go for one reason or another.
they sell tickets in our local paper sometimes - but it has to be for face value
Have you looked at eBay? Just make sure the seller has good feedback.
