there is a song by tim mcgraw- i think it is i want to be like you-explains how he wants to be just like his dad. my son who is almost 10 heard this and smiled ear to ear about it
Hello, my husband and I are getting started on our twins (boy/girl) one year videos. We use there still pictures and put them to music on a dvd. I have a lot of songs to use for my daughter but am having some trouble finding them for my son. When we did my now 3 yr old sons video it was tough finding songs about, or for, little boys. I really dont want to use the same songs that I used for him. So I am asking if anyone can think of any, we prefer country but will use any slow songs for them. Thank you.

Do you know "Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon? He wrote it for his son. Here are the lyrics:
Close your eyes
Have no fear
The monster's gone
He's on the run and your daddy's here
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day in every way
It's getting better and better
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Out on the ocean sailing away
I can hardly wait
To see you come of age
But I guess we'll both just have to be patient
'cause it's a long way to go
A hard row to hoe
Yes it's a long way to go
But in the meantime
Before you cross the street
Take my hand
Life is what happens to you
While you're busy making other plans
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day in every way
It's getting better and better
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Darling, darling, darling
Darling sean
I would consider using the song "Godspeed," by the Dixie Chicks, for your son's video. It's a lullaby directed at little boys. Here are the lyrics, so you can see what I mean.
Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
Fish bite moonbeams every night
And I love you
Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams
The rocket racer's all tuckered out
Superman's in pajamas on the couch
Goodnight moon, we'll find the mouse
And I love you
Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams
God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God heard "Amen," wherever you are
And I love you
Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Godspeed
Godspeed
Sweet dreams
Another song that makes me feel great emotion about my son is "Simple Man," by Shinedown(also an older version by Lynard Skynard). It is written from the point of view of the singer being told this stuff when he was a small child. And, it lists everything I hope for my son, as he grows into a man. Here are the lyrics to that song.
Well, Momma told me
When I was young
Sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day
Oh, take your time
Don't live too fast
Troubles will come
And they will pass
You'll find a woman, oh baby
And you'll find love
And don't forget that there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can
Forget your lust
For rich man's gold
All that you need now
Is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Oh, don't you worry
You'll find yourself
Follow your heart
And nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Be a simple man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Hi N.,
Kenny Loggins made a wonderful CD of lullabies in 1994, for his then baby boy, called Return to Pooh Corner. It has a lot of great songs that would probably work really well. St. Judy's comet, Cody's song, and the title track all come to mind immediately. What a fun project, good luck.

How about "Watching You" by Rodney Atkins? The song about daddy's little "buckaroo" who is watching him and wants to be just like him. My husband and I love that song and think of our little boy every time we hear it. Will add more if I think of any. Best of luck!
Hi the song my 4 year old son & husband love and seems to sound just like them is called Rodney Atkins - "Watching You" it is a really cute Daddy & son song. The other good Daddy / son song is Jamey Johnson - "The Dollar". Unsure if those are the types of songs your looking for but hope they help you! Good Luck! I have both of them on my pc... if you'd like them I can email them to you?
Hi Nicole.. I just got done doing my kids videos as well.. and I'm not sure what songs you used before, but I used "I've been watching you" by Rodney Adkins and "Then they do" by Trace Adkins...I didn't even realize till now.. that they were sung by brothers.. humm too funny... Anyway.. My family loved the CDS made with this music. Hope this helps
Sincerly, B.
PS.. Can I ask what program you are using to make your videos? I've been using Nero, but I would like to find another program to use. Thanks
If you are a Christian, there is a Phillips, Craig, and Dean song about a dad singing to God "Lord I want to be just like you, 'Cause he wants to be just like me. I want to be a holy example for his innocent eyes to see." It is really very sweet! Good luck and God Bless!

I love the song "When you dream" by Barenaked Ladies; it is a very nice ballad for the lead singers son. Also "Godspeed" by the Dixie Chicks is a good song too. Good luck!
Hello, one song that I thought of when I read your post is "Watching You" by Rodney Atkins. Not sure if it has been mentioned. It is a country song & it's about a little boy that wants to be just like his dad. Also another one that might be good is "He Gets That From Me" by Reba McIntire. Hope that helps! -S.
Sara Evans "You'll Always Be My Baby" I think of my boys when I hear that song.
Hi, I will ask my husband who is a wiz with music,I would love to know the music you have choosen so far for your girl and boy...how fun.
Ok I'll post lyrics too, this one has a nice message, maybe it is sad, but my husbands dad always played it for him and now my husband lays it for my son, it is Cat Stevens, Cats in the Cradle. Please let us know your choices for boy and girl, what a great idea, I know i have the software on my computer i just haven't gotten to it yet!
A child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking before I knew it and as he grew
He said, "I’m gonna be like you, Dad,
You know I’m gonna be like you"
And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
When you comin home, Son, I don’t know when,
But we'll get together then,
You know we'll have a good time then.
My son turned ten just the other day
He said "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on lets play
can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today,
I got a lot to do" He said "Thats okay"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said "I’m gonna be like him, yeah
You know I’m going to be like him"
And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy grew with the man on the moon
When you comin home, Son, I dont know when,
But we'll get together then,
You know we'll have a good time then.
Well he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say,
"Son, I’m proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head, and he said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"
And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy grew with the man on the moon
When you comin home, Son, I dont know when,
But we'll get together then, Dad
You know we'll have a good time then.
I’ve long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said "Id like to see you if you don’t mind"
He said "Id love to Dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new jobs a hassle, and the kids have the flu.
But It's sure nice talking to you, Dad,
It's been sure nice talking to you........"
And as I hung up the phone it had occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me,
My boy was just like me..............
And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy grew with the man on the moon
When you comin home, Son, I dont know when,
But we'll get together then, Dad
We're gonna have a good time then.
The cats in the craddle and the silver spoon
Little boy grew with the man on the moon
When you comin home, Son, I ndon't know when,
We're gonna have a good time then.
