I will give him several baths during the day to lower the fever, ibuprofen every 8 hours and do not put the a/c very low... When my son gets those symptoms, they last 10 days... Hang in there... He must be feeling really bad.... N.

You should keep the room at the temperature you always keep it at.
Just make sure there is not air blowing directly on him because that can definitely cause a sore throat.
He may have been breaking his fever. If he still has one try alternating ibuprofen and tylenol every couple hours...that always works for my kiddos. If you have concerns, always call your doc; that's what they're there for! Hope he feels better soon. Poor thing.
Hi, A.:
As long as your son is not getting chilled from the A/C it is okay
to keep the room cool.
It is good for the child to sweat. Sweating is the body's response to killing off the virus. The high body temperature is the mechanism to assist in that process.
Push fluids, keep him warm, and give him meds.
It will pass in a few days.
All the Best.

Yeah yeah virus! My son had it too. It takes 2-3 days for the fever to reduce and then couple more days and the cold, sore throat will be fine as well. Atleast that's how it has been with my 15 month old. I saw another mom asking of he has been tested for strep, but I think you need not worry about strep for now. If the throat is red with no fever etc , they do a test for strep. But not if he has cold and fever, then it's just the virus causing sore throat. That's what I was told.
Don't keep the room very cold. Fever gives you chills, so no cold air blowing directly on him. I would say maintain the regular temperature in your room - the one your son is accustomed to. For us it's 75F. Dress him in light clothes. I have heard it's good to sweat when you have fever. But babies can't tell if they are overheated , so it's better to be careful. Make sure he remains hydrated. Hope he gets better soon!
sweating while having a fever, is to displace the fever.
Its the body working.
Do not blow cold air on him.
He will get chilled.
Fever... also can cause headaches, and 'chills.' Even if a person is hot/sweating with a fever... they will actually be cold... and 'chilled.'
Just keep him, lightly dressed. Not warm.
Tylenol/Motrin type things, just reduces the fever/discomfort. It does NOT 'cure' the illness/cold.
If the child is still sick, the fever will return.
The fever, will break.
But keep an eye on him, taking his temp, regularly.
It it gets too high, use a tepid bath.
Or cool cloths on his forehead and armpits.
Keep him hydrated.
Fevers are dehydrating.
Cool liquids, water.
It takes about 7-10 days, for a virus cold, to diminish.
But being he is a baby, observe him for any worsening symptoms or new symptoms.
Did they do a Strep test on him????
