The Body Shop- Mango Body Butter- with mango seed oil for very dry skin. I put it on my feet after EVERY shower, esp around the heels and the knees. It keeps my feet softened all these years!
I do get pedicures once a month but after only a few days of receiving it my feet are back to being rough, does anyone know how to make a pedicure last longer or how to basically soften feet
i went to the local nail salon and bought a pumice bar and then i went to walmart and purchased some corn huskers lotion. Im gonna try this for about 3 weeks before trying another idea given, but hopefully this will work, and THANKS to everyone who responded

I use a product called Kerasal......LOVE IT!!!!!! Target used to carry it, but I have found it for cheaper at Walmart. I put it on after I have pumiced my feet in the shower and then add socks. It works wonders!!! I live in flip-flops so my feet really take a beating. This is the only thing that I have found that helps.
Put vaseline on your feet with a pair of socks every night or every other night before you got to bed.
i cake my feet in vaseline and then put socks on every night to sleep in.

Hi Mom2b,
I am a manicurist and I specialize in pedicures. I will start by saying if you pedicurist is using anything that looks like a grater or razor have her stop immediately. You will have some healing time where your heels will b a little ruff but trust that it will get better. Our body natually builds tougher skin in areas it is needed (usually where there is pressure) and these tools cut the skin. Your body will grow it back and usually thicker than before. The OPI foot file is a great option for maintenence but you might need a little more than that at first. You should look for a Cehci Pro foot file.....hands down this tool is amazing. Be sure to use it on clean dry feet then apply a heavy cream (there are lots of great ones out there....I like hemp butter & Spa Blends body butter. If you don't want to purchase from a salon you can try nut butter from Body shop. Stay away from greasy products they don't absorb into the feet as well as real butters.) and socks. Luckily winter is coming so you should have this problem cleared up soon. Someone mentioned baking soda foot baths. This a good option for soaking before using the files as it does soften skin. You will find you don't really need to do this if using the Cechi file.
On a side note- most mani pedi places are run, for lack of a better term, like chop shops. Get them in and get them out as fast as possible. They are not there to make your feet soft. They are there to do the absolute basics, cut, trim, lotion, polish. You will have to do maintenence at home if this is the type of place you go to. Good luck
heavy moisturizer then socks (thick athletic the best) and then sneakers. Or you could moisturize and just wear them to sleep in.
And use the pumice in the shower as much as you can.
Soak your feet every couple of days in a solution of warm water and baking soda. About half an hour of the soaking, then use a pumice stone to rub off the caloused spots will soften them a lot. You can use a favorite moisturizer to help preserve that softeness.
I get the bath fizz balls from different bath stores and put warm/hot water in a big bowl and add the bath fizz and then my feet at night while watching TV it relieves the stress of the week and makes my feet really soft; I rub off or pumice off the excess skin after the soak and rub a skin oil on and then socks- it feels so nice but must be done at least monthly
Enjoy!
The OPI Foot File is the best tool I've found to keep the sides of my heels and the bottoms of my feet soft - just use it 2-3x a week at the end of your shower, then rinse off the paddle and let it dry out somewhere (the rough sides are replaceable, but they last a long time). They're kind of pricey, but worth every penny. I've purchased lots of pumice stones in my life, but the OPI File is by far the best. I don't like to do socks at night, but after I use the file, I just put regular lotion on my feet and put on my socks for the day.
* Make sure pedicurist ues the tool to take off dead skin off of heel while you're there.
* Use a foot file (like sandpaper made for feet) while you're home.
* Put a penetrating lotion on then put socks on over it for a deep "soften". Wear to bed . I can't wear them all night so I do a two hour one while watching TV every so often.
Slather on Vaseline and then put on a pair of socks before bed and wear them all night. After you wash them off in the shower in the morning, use a Ped-Egg on them while the rough spots are still soft and moist. This is what I have to do with my daughter's hands when the calluses on her hands get really thick and rough. She is autistic and stims with magazines causing a couple of really stubborn calluses on certain parts of one of her hands.
I love creams or balms for feet then wear soft socks usually do this after a good foot soak pumice stone to remove dead skin & polished nails...
Hi Mama-
The Nuetrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. (the unscented one)
I use it on my face, my elbows, and my feet. It's thick and keeps the ashy roughness away. I say, the second day, when you get out of the shower, use that while you are still moist (but dry). Rub it into your toes, your heels, your feet, and anywhere else that gets that way.
Starting at day 3-4, use some kind of exfoliation, whether it be a scrub down with a washcloth (don't just wipe, scrub) or a body pouf.
Keep using the lotion.
One last thing, get a pair of clean socks, add a few drops of peppermint essential oils (or lavendar or whatever you like). Microwave them until warm (stick a damp cloth in with them). It took mine 90 seconds to warm up. Place over lotioned feet and go to bed. In the morning, wash, moisturize, and go on with your day. They should stay pretty fresh for a few weeks, until you get your next deep scrub/pedicure. =)
Good luck
