So tired...what Was I Saying?

Hi, ladies. I know every mom goes through this but, this seems ridiculous. I am so exhausted most of the time. It takes me forever to get going during the day and at night I just fall into bed. I feel like I never get anything accomplished. On top of that, I have had the foggiest memory since my pregnancy, almost a year ago. I can't remember where I put anything. Yesterday, I was looking for a purse that was on my wrist! Normally, I just have a glass of tea and get on with it but, lately I am dragging myself through the day. I feel like a zombie, everyday seems like a blur. What can I do? I am nursing right now and there is no sign that baby girl is giving that up.

What can I do next?

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm approaching 40. I do this every day! I walk into a room and can't remember what I came in there for. Part of it's sleep deprivation, your body needs it. And I'm sure you precious baby is taking away from a good nights sleep. You have 3 children, which 2 are at home and need you 24/7. I'm sure you are overwhelmed and doing a million things at once. Ask for help, let things go that can wait, and take it easy for a few days to see if you feel better. If you are alarmed, go see your doctor. But maybe you just need to lighten your laod. We all want to be super moms! Just remember super hero's had help!

Go get your bloodwork done. You could be anemic or have some other imbalance. I think it is worth looking into, what you are describing is not normal.

After ruling everything else out with a doc - make sure you are getting lots of raw foods into your diet - whole grains, fruits and vegetables in their natural uncooked state. Live food is a great source of energy. And then, if you're not already, get going with some exercise. It's hard to start when you're so tired, but once you get going, it creates momentum and increases your energy - something simple like walking or doing a dance video. Although, my mind is still not as sharp as it used to be; I can forget mid-sentence too, but my energy levels and stamina have increased since I started doing these things.

Well, I first just want to say I am so sorry you are feeling so drained! Second want to remind you that it is ok to take care of yourself! Often times as moms we forget to take care of ourselves, but what is so silly about that is that without taking care of ourselves how can we care for our kiddos?? So, I would say listen to what the others have said and go to the doctor to see if there is some sort of deficiency or anything that they can find that could explain the way you are feeling. Take care of yourself!

sounds pretty normal - you have three kids including a baby. do you have time to excercise? that usually helps to boost energy. also, eliminate fast food and other unhealthy foods that helps as well.

I experienced a lot of this in October and November 08 and still do when I have bad days. I went and got a physical and my Dr. did bloodwork on me. Found out I have Hypoglycemia. I use to be a sugar-a-holic. Eating and drinking lots of sugar every day. It is a struggle for me not to have caffeine/sugar,especially sodas/tea. I have low blood sugar and have to limit myself on my sugar that I eat. I now have to have small meals and eat small portions of anything with sugar or avoid the sugar. My memory I noticed went first for the worse and started last summer. My memory is worse when I have too much sugar. I was very tired and knew something wasn't right when I couldn't remember anything. Definitely get it checked out by your Dr. Don't feel bad, I've looked for my keys and one time I was holding them in my hand while I had other things I was holding and covered my keys up!

Do you eat or drink a lot of sugar? Is there Diabetes in your family? Try eating less sugar/sweets and see if you feel any better. What you eat and drink has a huge impact on how you feel and how your body reacts. If it is Hypoglcemia, I have some books that I could recommend to you and a Dietician that helped me a lot that I can recommend. Try eating every 2-3 hours a snack/light meal, if it is a normal meal time. See how you feel after you make a few of these changes. Feel free to email me and I can talk to you more about Hypoglcemia.

I hope you get to feeling better, I've been there and it doesn't feel good to be tired and your memory fails you!

You should definately go to the doctor and get checked. I was feeling the exact same way and I was also loosing my strength (even lifting my 7 month old was too hard). I went and got my blood checked and I was diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome. It is an outoimmune disease. My vitamin D and Iron levels were also very low. But definately don't let it slide go get it checked out. Hope you find everything ok.

Hey H., welcome to my world! lol I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of the phenomena of ‘pregnancy brain’. The condition is debatable (women suffering memory lapses during pregnancy and up to 2 years postpartum). It could just be due to the lack of sleep, but it’s really affected me (I'm still nursing my 10 mo. old girl too). There’s an article on WebMD you can read if you’re interested/have time. http://www.webmd.com/baby/features/memory-lapse-it-may-be...

I'm sorry I don't really have any answers other than to ditto everyone about having a check up and hoping some sort of normalcy will return soon. You are not alone!

could be several things, but (iron tired blood) need of a certain vitamin, more rest, and also if your husband works out of town, that means you don't have the team work everyday of giving each other a little break, and you can get exausted just doing it all emotionally during the week. You area the mom, if nursing is taking it out of you, which it can, she can learn to have a bottle and other nurshiment, it may be a tough three or four days, but she will adapt, espically if you hold her for a feeding so she still feels cuddled. Getting a blood test to see if you are short of something, and a nutrent professional will give you something that your body needs, not just one vitiman fits all.

I know just how you feel... I love your caption! I think most of us Mom's feel that way sometimes, but if it seems to be all the time and keeping you from functioning.. it could be more serious than just being tired. All the other posts have hit right on the nose - thyroid, low vit. levels, etc. I had Post Partum Depression with both my kiddos and didn't seek help with the first (because I didn't know there was help). So, my point is... what you are going through is normal but have yourself checked out by your doctor just to rule out anything else. Best wishes!K.

I felt the same way. I had low thyroid and low vitamin D. But it could be anything. Have your Dr. check before you start vitamins.

My daughter had the same symptoms. She found out she had thyroid issues, and along with that iron issues. The memory problem goes along with all this. Do your research on the computer. Find a good doctor through networking with your friends. You need help!

If you have checked it out and are healthy then I would say "Welcome to the Great World of Motherhood!" Then I would suggest to be sure you get enough sleep, even at the expense of leaving a dirty house. And, I agree with so many of the others. Nutrition is essential. Do your best to eat properly and contact me if you would like a good supplementation program to meet your specific needs. I am a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I have seen people, including myself and my husband, gain energy by just taking a few vitamins and/or getting on a good nutritional weight loss program. I don't know what your needs might be, of course.

Hello H.,

Oh dear, you're so exhausted! are you taking any supplements? do you have any food allergies? I'd get a checkup and have them check your vitamin D levels. Also, are you taking any omega 3 oils? Are you drinking enough water? if you find yourself just having a few sips of water at the time... try bottled water or a different brand of bottle water. About a year ago I ended up going to the reumatologist and he's the one that checked my vitamin D levels. My regular dr. didn't. they check for lots of other ostuff which came back 'normal'. So you'll have to request for them to check your vitamin D levels along with all the other stuff they want to check for. Good luck! ~C.~

I had the same thing happen recently and thought it was a thyroid disorder. As is turns out, I'm very Vitamin D deficient! My Dr. said to start taking a Multivitamin and an additional 1000 i.u of vitamin D. I feel much better now and it's been several weeks.
