dear K. have you're kid gargle salt water or give him warm milk before he goes to bed every night till it stops :)
I am wondering if anyone had troulbes with their infants on sleeping while they were teething. What they did to help their child sleep better through the night. I have a three month old and he is starting to teeth. Teething tablets usually helps him out, but during the night I find that he is constantly waking up crying because his teeth are hurting him. I dont want give them to him constantly, but what else can I do to sooth him through the night. He is also having troubles with constipation. I also think that has something to do with him not sleeping through the night. Can anyone give me some advice.

Constipation has never been an issue for my baby, but hear for those that do have that problem, they have linked it some to the formula choice, if baby still takes formula, may have an effect on sluggish digestion. I swear by Nestle Good Start Supreme, and now have 10 month old on the Good Start Supreme 2 for Older Babies. Have NEVER had a constipation issue. That particular formula is made with comfort protiens for easier digestion. Solids can play a part in constipation too, if their is a lot of dairy, like cheese and yogurt, and meat in the baby's diet, and not many grains, fruit and vegetables, this could also cause constipation. Plenty of fluids (water seems to be great to keep them sipping on much through the day) are also important in aiding constipation. Apple juice, in particular, seems to really help with this.
Teething is troublesome. Teething tablets do work to calm baby, as it works as a mild sedative, but for real pain when the teeth are about to break through, I find Tylenol is the only thing that helps baby sleep. I only give it to mine for a night, maybe two at a time right before and during tooth breaking surface. Doesn't solve the sleep issue, but helps some with their obvious discomfort.
HI K., you did not say how you are feeding your baby, which is important information to have in responding. Many people mistakenly believe that breastfed babies are constipated when they stop (Sometimes suddenly) having several stools a day. COnstipation refers to having a hard painful stool, it is not related to frequency of stooling. It is normal for breastfed babies to go up to a week or so without stooling, after they reach thea ge of 6 weeks or so. If you are nursing and wish to discuss this further, you can email me privately.
Three months is fairly young to be teething; perhaps making sure that he does not have an ear infection or something else that needs treatment that could be causing him to wake would be a good idea. Babies can drool and chew for weeks before any teeth erupt...
Good luck!

Good luck!
i think if u put a picture of fav auntie K. then he would feel more comfortable and sleep better
Hi K.,
The thing that might help with both of your babie's issues is massage. For the teething, gently massage his cheeks and gums with your clean index finger. You can use Baby Anbisol if this works for you, but nice warm fingers also help ease the pain. You can also try the teething rings that you freeze so he can chew on something cold to bring down any inflammtion. For the constipation, rub his tummy in gentle CLOCKWISE motions for about five minutes each night after his bath. This will encourage the movement to go in the right direction and help soften his BMs. Rubbing counterclockwise can cause more constipation, so always do the clockwise motion. Good luck....
My child's sleep was often worse when she was teething. We are not into medicines usually and we tried to just give her the Hyland's homeopathics for teething but sometimes the baby tylenol was the thing that got her free of pain and helped her sleep better. If you still nurse, that can be quite a comfort as well. Also, chewing on frozen baby washcloths (during the day) is a bigger hit with the babies than teething rings.
Hey there,
It will get better (: I don't think I believed that when my son was 3 months (soon to be 11mo.). I read some of the other responses so I know I'm repeating some of what you've heard. Definitely try Tylenol if you haven't, it's a life-saver. Also have him get plenty of food (and thicker food) before bed. You can water down the bottles (if he's eating that way) during the day. That should help with the constipation problem.

Hi K....... firstly, I truly empathise. We have been having some sleeping issues with our little 9-month old too!
Call your Pediatrician and see if he can have some Tylenol at bedtime and check what dosage they recommend.
Also have you tried the oragel nighttime formula? Only thing with the oragel and teething tablets is that they are a surface reliever and don't really get to the root of the pain like pain relieving meds can.
As for his constipation, I would definitely talk to your Pediatrician about that too. She will probably talk to you about his diet and whatnot.
Good luck!
