Skechers Shape up Sandals

Hello,
Does anyone have the xf dash sandal by Skecher? It is one of those "fitness" shoes but it is only available online...which makes me a little nervous. Are these shoes worth the money? I usually buy Earth's or Chacco's for the same price (even less, sometimes) but I have been thinking "why not?" lately. I've heard that you usually need to buy them a size bigger than you wear, is that true? Any tips or advice would be great!
Thanks,
S.

I have both the tennis shoes and the Skecher's tone up sandals. I'd have to say the shoes are great. Very comfortable, got me interested in making walking a priority. The tone up sandals my husband got me as I'm usually a sandal-wearer in the summer. I would say NOT to buy these ones a size bigger, I could have gone maybe a half size smaller. I had quite a bit of toe room on top and you don't want to be snagging the toes on something and falling. You need breaking in time also, I got blisters between my toes on both feet, and maybe my feet are higher on top, kind of uncomfortable to wear until you're used to them. Or they stretch out a bit. Long story short, I got for a gift, they are expensive although Famous Footwear stores run sales. Hope this helps!

There are places that have the Sketcher's Tone Up sandals - not sure about the xf dash... but I tried them on at Kohls - saw them at Academy Sports too. I actually bought a much less expensive (but better looking) pair of Champion brand ones at Payless and a pair made by LA Gear for even less.

I feel like they are very comfortable for a flip flop/sandal. I wear them for comfort not really for toning.

I also have the Champion brand shaping sneakers - I wear them to work (as a nurse) - I think they are very comfortable.

I also have the regular sketcher shapeups. I broke my heel 2 years ago and these are the only shoes that actually don't cause pain in my foot.

I've had mine for a year now and wear them almost exclusively so I don't know why others have experienced break down, but they'll wear out I'm sure just like any other shoe, especially if you wear them all the time.

I highly recommend them. I bought them in my regular size, which is hard to find (5 1/2) and they were a bit tight at first, but I'm VERY glad I didn't go a bigger size because after they stretched, they fit perfectly!

I really love these shoes and recommend them to everyone, especially if you have plantar fasciitis like I now do.

I have them and I hate hate hate them- now I am on my feet for at least 11 hrs a day and I am conistantly walking/running- well maybe not running. My feet/legs ache at the end of the day- I have worked barefoot just because I couldnt take the discomfort anymore. I think they are ok for general use or for workouts, but for moving all day, no. I did have a Veterinarian (whos not on her feet as much) who had the MBT's and she did say that were what she expected them to be as far as comfort went- she doesnt need to shapeup

I talked to a lady was was actually wearing a pair.
She LOVES it... she wears it because of back/hip pain... and to tone up.
She said it helps.
She has the high-end brands from Neiman Marcus... and the ones from Sears... she said, it makes no difference. But the one's she bought from Sear's is much cheaper and good.
The one from Sears, is what she was wearing at the time when I saw her and asked about it.
I think it is the Dr. Scholls brand or Skechers. From Sears.

Here is a link on it for info.:

I don't know about the sizing... but you have to try them on.
I would not get it online, without trying them on first, for your size. To make sure you get the correct size.

all the best,
Susan

I bought the sketchers fitness shoes (full shoe, not sandle) and I love them. I think it is about time for another pair though...as they are beginning to break down a bit. I've had them about 6 months...but I have worn only them and I am a heavy lady...so am hard on shoes. It did help with the back and joint pain...but it takes a week to get used to them.

I just purchased the Skecher xf dash sandals....here are my observations:

* Just as several folks stated, these sandals do run a bit large/long but not overly so. I usually wear size 7 1/2 in sneakers, and size 7 in sandals. I purchased the xf dash in size 7. There is 1/2 inch room from my heel to back of sandal, and another 1/2 inch room from my big toe to top of sandal. If you like to have sandals with your foot resting in the middle of the shoe then normal size is fine. If you like your foot to be more toward the top & bottom edges of the shoe, then you would want to go 1/2 size smaller.

* I have to admit these are the most comfortable sandals that I now have - they are like walking on pillows. I've walked around with in the house - 1 foot wearing the Skecher xf dash, other foot wearing other comfortable sandals I have (Ecco, Aravon by New Balance, etc). The Skecher xf dash is much more cushiony, and has a smoother walk since it has the rocker bottoms.

* The Skecher xf dash look more like normal sandals than other rocker designed shoes (which tend to look more ortheopetic). I didn't buy the Skecher sneakers (I went with the New Balance Rock N Tones instead, which are not as thick on the bottom. Reebok also makes the Easy/SimpleTones, but they don't offer the same rocking motion as Skecher, New Balance, etc). I don't personally like wearing flip flops - which most of the rocker sandals are; so these sandals worked out perfectly for me by having a more traditional sandal style with back strap.

Overall, I would say this was a great buy! I've only worn them in the house to be sure I want to keep them, so will now need to test them on longer / real walk to see how my feet feel.

I say go for it!

I have the regular Shape-Up sneakers and LOVE them. I wear them almost daily for at least some sort of lengthy walking. You get used to them very quickly. I tried the Skechers Tone-Ups, and found the little toe-strap/thong part to be uncomfortable; I also have some scar tissue on my feet and the strap was rubbing the exact area. So while a good friend of mine loves her tone-ups, too, I just couldn't get into them. I instead went with a different Skechers sandal-the Cyclers. I tried them on at Kohls, but bought them from Kohls online using a retailmenot.com coupon and paid $20 for them.

And yes, I had to buy my Shape-Ups in a half-size larger.

Yo could also check out Fitflops. They are supposed to be available at Macy's and there are some shoe stores that sell them. They are about $50--much more affordable than the $100 + shoes I have seen. I plan to go try some on this weekend.

I don't have them but check Payless if they have them up there in WI.
Champion has put out a line of shoes very similar to the Sketchers at 1/3 of the price.
I'm pretty sure they have a sandal.

I have the Champion ones that are like the Reebok tone shoes.
When you do go look at them Sketchers do not come in wide sizes. I have wide feet and I would have had to buy 2 sizes larger than my normal shoe and even then they were tight and then way too long.

Hi S.,

I have MBTs which is the original brand that came out years ago. I love them. They do everything they say they do. My sister has a pair and my husband has three. My sister told me that she tried on some other brand last week at the outlet mall and they weren't near the quality or comfort. All that being said, they were 1/3 of the price. I paid $250.00 for mine and so did she. MBT will replace the sole of the shoe for as long as you have it for a small cost and I'm tickled I have them. I normally wear a 6.5 but my MBTs are 7.5 US.

Hope this helps!

i have a pair of the shape up work shoes i bought them in feb and here it is beginning of june and they are more or less broke down yes you do have to get them a size larger but unless you have knee or back problems and are on hard floors like i am (fast food) i dont suggest them the price is outrageous, the only reason i kept mine was from where i work they help with my knees and back but i am a heel walker so i am tough on shoes anyways, but i would look for something else they havent even remotely helped me tone at all hope this helps.

I was thinking about getting them, too. A friend at work had them, wore them for about a week, and since then has had to take anti-inflammatories, see a physical therapist, and a chiropractor due to the strain it put on her foot on the bottom...

Good luck!

I don't have the sandals, but I have the regular Skecher Shape-Ups. I use mine only for fitness walking. It took a little while to get used to them. I think they would be awkward or uncomfortable for daily use, but I don't know if the sandal is exactly like the walking shoe. Once I got used to them, I like them, but they were expensive for a single purpose shoe. They do work on the backs of your thighs, calfs, etc., because I definitely feel it after a long walk with them even though I am also a weight-lifter. I bought mine in my regular size.
