I am looking at Sit and Stands strollers. I live where I can't go look at them in a store so I would like to hear what you all think of yours. I have a 1 and 4 year old. I think the option of my 4year old (all 32 lbs of him :)) being able to sit down when he gets tired would be nice. I would like my 1 year old to be able to take naps in it too. It looks like the seats don't recline very well. What brand/style do you have and what do/don't you like about it? Thanks!!

Ditto to the Baby Trend Sit and Stand. I loved it when I test drove it at Target, but to actually have my then two and 4 month old in it and trying to manuver it was hell. It is super hard to steer, when you are going to the mall, museum, etc. It is, however, fine for straight line walking trips. Yes, the seat does NOT recline for naps, only just a tad. My advice would be to look into a side by side stroller, which are wider than the sit and stand strollers, but they are easier to manuver.
My kids are now three and 17 months, and it is even harder to steer now that their weight has gone up.
SAY NO TO BABY TREND SIT AND STAND!!! Biggest waste of money.

My opinion, my kids are the same age as yours. We just got two good umbrella strollers. If we are going somewhere for a long period of time my oldest uses his if not then I just pop my youngest in it and go. I personally think they are to bulky and hard to manuver so we never invested in one.

We had a sit-and-stand while I cared for a four year old girl and my son, when he was an infant. Horrible in so many ways. In-line things are harder to steer and manage, up and down curbs, etc. I like the side-by-side joggers; they are easier to manuever (curbs can be a problem if the front wheel pivots) and the weight is better distributed. Or a side-by-side umbrella stroller also works. I used these both as a nanny with far greater ease than I did the sit-and-stand.

Sit and stand, with a 4 year old on it... will be hard to wield.

If you are going to be out, for hours on end, and the 4 year old gets tired... just stop for a breather and sit somewhere.

At that age, they have more stamina.
And/or can keep walking around.

I cannot imagine, my 4 year old on a sit and stand. He is too tall/heavy for it and he is just fine, tagging along.

Then the next thing would be, once you get the sit and stand stroller and he is now 4 years old, how long will you actually use it, before he either: grows out of it, or grows out of needing it, or just does not like to use it, himself?

I have three kids and five strollers. My kids are now 5, 2 1/2, and 3 months. When I take more than one kid with me, I have to use the sit-and-stand. I hate this stroller, but it is the best option for me right now, since the baby is still in the car seat carrier.

I have the Baby Trend sit-and-stand. I only paid $99 for it, but you get what you pay for. It is rickety, very hard to manuever, and the storage basket is hard to access. But it gets the job done and it isn't too heavy. My kids are very small. My 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old can actually share the tiny jump seat! It's nice to be able to have all three kids contained in one stroller. I only use this stroller in a mall or on very even pavement. It's not good for neighborhood walks.

If I had to do it all over again, I would probably get the Joovy sit-and-stand. It is a little easier to maneuver, and it isn't quite as long, so if you want to use it for just one kid, it's not much bigger than a single stroller. And don't bother paying extra for the ultra-light version. I tried the regular and ultra-lights side by side. The main reason for the weight difference is the canopy material. I usually remove the canopy anyway, so it's no real benefit.

Since your younger child is already one year old, I'm not sure that a sit-and-stand is something you will like. The seats don't recline much at all, so if he's not in a car seat carrier, he probably won't be able to get a very comfortable nap. Maybe look at a Phil and Ted's mountain buggy?

I have been trying to make the same decision!! I have heard that the jump seat on the Joovy pretty much disappears if you recline the seat. After a lot of reading and a lot of asking I have decided to get the Elite Sit and Stand that is only sold by One Step Ahead - the front reclines more, the jump seat has wheels and can be flipped up, and the back has its own sun cover. Its about the same cost as a Joovy and seems to address most of the complaints of both systems.

we have a joovy caboose ultralight and love it. ours are 1 yr and 3.5 yrs. and its not hard to push at all. there wasn't a ton of room for my 3.5 yr old when the baby was in the infant carrier, but now that he's out of that, my 3.5 has plenty of room. but most of the time he's rather stand anyway. basket is hard to get to if you have a baby carrier, but i don't think you will since your youngest is 1. i recomend it. my husband and I always take it to the zoo, fairs, etc.
