Okay all the responses to my first sippy cup question were very helpful. Now I need help because I finally got him to use a sippy cup in the day time, but nighttime is a whole different story. I give him the cup in bed but he just crys and crys. What do I do to help him take it instead of his bottle. Please help me I have a 4 month old and too many bottles to wash. ;-)

What can I do next?

I had the hardest time getting my son off his bottle. What I did is started mixing the milk with water. Then after a week or two of that I put water in the bottle. After two weeks of that I went to WalMart and got the Nubby sippy cup because of the soft spout and just put water in it to go to bed. I hope this may give you some ideas. Good Luck with both of your children. God Bless!

I wouldn't give him a sippy cup or bottle in bed. First, it can be a choking hazard and second it is bad for his teeth. When my son switched from a bottle to a sippy cup I used to hold the cup kind of like a bottle and cuddle with him until he was done and then to bed he went.

Good luck.

What worked for me with my now 5 year old and 3 year old was I would give them water in the bottle and formula in their cup and let them decide which one they wanted, 9 times out of 10 they wanted formula instead of water. Good luck

When we transitioned from the bottle to sippy cup, our pediatrician gave us an easy trick! He recommended filling the bottle with water, and the sippy cup with milk. Offer the baby the sippy cup first - if they refuse it, then offer them the bottle with water. Chances are, your baby will want the milk more than the bottle and will switch herself! When we offered our son the bottle with water he drank a little, then looked at the sippy cup - tried that and got the flavor he liked. Then, he took a couple more pulls from the bottle for the sucking action. He repeated this back and forth a few times, and then was content with the sippy cup. Remember NOT to put anything but water in the bottle from now on! Good luck.
