My daughter loves her sippy cup as well. I fill it with water and she has it all day long. I do not see any harm as long as it is not filled with juice or milk. She probably goes through two or three sippy cups of water a day.
I have a 2year old son that is attached to a sippy cup. He crys for it all the time, he even has to go to sleep with it. I dont know if its normal or not i really need help.

Well, I don't see a problem if you only put water in it. Let him carry it around. Now, for other drinks, start using regular cups. I recommend old coffee cups. I found with my two if i used little cute kids cups, they are top heavy & kids spill every time, but with old coffee cups, they have to use both hands to pick it up & it has a handle. So far no spills & none broken. Mine are now 4 & 5 & I use my low ball glasses & still none broken. I do use straws often too. Hope this helps you.
Hi S.,..
2 is not too old to be attached to a sippy cup. I'm sure other moms may have other opinions.
With both my boys I nursed to just about 2- by 2 1/2 they were mostly done. if you changed from bottle or nursing and they are only holding onto a sippy cup.. no biggie. so .. my point being.. they may not be done with the need to suckle. breast.. bottle,. sipping cup.
On the other hand,. it's time to teach your son to use a regular cup.. he will be in many situations where he needs to learn to hold it upright,. place it down.. not spill... :)
lastly... My husband is a super freak about spills... so you know what - even with my 6 and 3 1/2 yr old I use the sippy cups with and without stoppers and cups with lids all the time.. to avoid any major spills... I hate spills because it interupts family time if an accident occurs..... BUT my boys CAN use cups anywhere anytime..
best of luck,
-marg.
Is he attached to having a drink in the sippy cup or just the cup itself?
My son is just shy of 2 1/2 and still loves his sippy cup, I am not taking it away......he can keep it til highschool if he wants...lol.
But it is important to get him to drink out of a regular glass
