Help! My desk is being overrun by the Covenant! Brutes, Elites, and Grunts are staging an attack on my coffee pot. But I've got ODST and Spartans protecting it. Master Chief leading the defense of such a highly prized, caffeinated resource. The Covenant fleet is strong, but the Marines just brought in several Warthogs with rocket pods, via Pelican for re-enforcement.
*cough* Anyway. I collect Lego Halo figurines. They wage war on my desk. My kids think I'm crazy, my husband thinks it's cute, my brother feeds the addiction. What "weird" things do you mamas collect?
Whoops! Gotta go! A couple of Banshees just flew in to try and bomb the fortification of the coffee pot.
I love vintage handkerchiefs, usually with cute flowery patterns and butterflies or some-such stuff.
I also love the Franciscanware Desert Rose pattern and have several pieces of that. In today's world, it's a bit of a throwback. And I always buy vintage kitchen appliances: they usually work better/last longer.
My husband has an enormous collection of cribbage boards, over 200. I keep my collection of those very small: I have just two.
Coins (have had collection since I was a kid). it will be passed on to my kids.
Some vintage things here and there. Misc stuff.
Even have a slide rule. Old Nikon camera from the war days.
A collection of black and white photos

Books. As in, pathologically. If I like a book, I want my own copy. If I don't like a book, I still can't give or throw it away. We have no wall space whatsoever in our whole entire house.

Ha! Kiddo and I made blue interior lighted swirly glitter in liquid grenades for Xmas tree ornaments. I'm still trying to figure out how to get blue Velcro on tennisballs so they stick to your clothes.
But back on target:
Forgeries.

I have all of my childhood book series, comic books, + other misc. Even have my record collection. No dolls, though. :)
I also have my grandfather's tool/die tools. An antique machinist toolchest sitting in my bedroom. + an antiq timeclock out of Anheuser Busch-St Louis...again, in my bedroom. Unusual choices for a bedroom!
In our hall bathroom & in our living room, I have my grandfather's duck & dove decoys....all of his fishing gear.....+ what I confiscated from my DH's stash. Glass minnow traps, lures, a 16' gigging fork (hung on the beam in our living room)....lots of treasures scattered all around our home!
& you should see my husband's pool room....vintage beer signs everywhere, most are motion lights. Cooler than cool! & getting harder to find at decent prices!
OH, my younger son (age 15) has car parts hung all over his bedroom! Some really rare vintage pieces...he even has a breather for a 440 hung on the wall, the radiator "ribs" off an old Dodge truck, & a collage of car badgings....to name a few of his treasures. His desk/credenza houses his antiq/vintage soda bottle collection. Man, can this kid collect!
Fun question....thanks!

Reminds me of my mouse collection when I was a kid/teen... I had a ton of mouse figurines. So cute! Packed away now.
I also collect the Franciscan Desert Rose pattern! Love that stuff. Love scoring unique pieces when I can, or finding it for cheap in a random place.
Last Halloween I was saving jars to do an arts/crafts project with. (It came out so cute!) But I can't stop obsessively washing out and saving all the jars we use. They are lining up on the dresser and desk in the spare room. I don't plan to use them for anything else, I just can't stop the habit! It makes me feel a little crazy to look at them.
**Oh and I forgot to mention I have 3 or 4 years worth of "Sassy" magazines (anyone remember that from the early 90's? before Jane Pratt started "Jane" and tried to have a talk show and disappeared, she started off with that little teen mag). Can't bring myself to throw them away and they are kinda funny to look through now that the 90's are so long ago.
I too have saved every piece of correspondence from my early teen years to now (including notes passed in class and stuff!) I never look through it but it's an obsession and I can't throw that stuff out.

I don't collect things, but that's a pretty cool collection you've got! If you're going to collect things, they might as well be cool and fun.
My husband has a friend whose wife collects and displays those creepy porcelain clown faces and theater mask things. And dolls. Shudder. I can't stand being in their house with all of those creepy faces everywhere. The other collection I'll never understand is Precious Moments. Gag. And I have friend who has those Thomas Kincaide "Painter of Light" things all over her house. One is nice, but really, a print on every wall and his paintings made into afghans and throw pillows is overkill, right?
Sorry if I offended any mask/clown/doll/Precious Moments/Thomas Kincaide collectors.

Love your collection and imagination. :)
I collect religious pendants, ie: ankh, pentacle, cross, celtic knot, etc. in spite of not believing in any deities. I also have a word collection. When I was a teen I had an obsession with using a new word weekly and finding new ways to implement the word into my daily repertoire. I do believe I ought to write it all out now and begin to share it with my daughter as one can never have a too large vocabulary.

Gargoyles...it can be anything; statues, candles, books, figures, wall hangings, etc. I don't know why but I've loved them since I was a child. My father used to get me something for every occasion growing up. IMO, I've got some cool stuff :)
Also, stones, crystals, and rocks. They all have meaning and purpose and remind me daily of the memories behind them.

It's sad that I know exactly what you are talking about. My hubs is playing HALO right now....
Anywho, I collect all kinds of things. I like ugly retro, kitchy stuff, you know, the mustard colored mushrooms and owls and all that. I also collect vintage dresses, like the day dresses of the 50's-70's era. I have 4 Mexican embroidered dresses. My husband hates it.

All my correspondence. When I was a girl I read that Spike Milligan kept every piece of correspondence he received. I read one of the books publishing them. Now for some reason I can't get rid of old Christmas cards, letters etc.

I collect Obi Wan Kenobi figures and anything Eeyore. Oh and Lego Mini figs.
My figures are in bins in the garage because I don't have the space to display them and My Eeyores are the reason why I don't have a place to put the Obi Wans. I've got over 100 of each of them.

I don't have any weird collections- my collections are mundane (teapots and Xmas plates). But I am a raving lunatic fangirl of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I get a lot of flack for it, otherwise I probably WOULD have a collection.
I also have an unhealthy fascination with all things Disney. I own a lot of Disney items, but I wouldn't call it a collection, just a bunch of stuff.

We have the Lego figures, squinkies, Go-Gos, and bakugan....but, they all have their storage area at the end of the night when we go to bed....But, yes, my husband and I are just as excited to add to the collection...ugh! They all make great stocking stuffers, Easter basket items, "good job" gifts.....etc.
