I have attended a gift card shower. The bride to be was actually here but we all gave gift cards with photo's of what we would have given her off the registry. It was a lot of fun for everyone.
My sister is getting married next Feb. She lives in Washington state, but the wedding (and most of our family) are in Illinois. My mom will be throwing her a shower, but wonders if it will be strange since people will need to send her their gifts to WA and she really won't have much to open at the shower. Has anyone done this? What did you do to thank the guests if the gifts were all mailed? Did you do anything to make it fun, since so much time at a shower is spent opening gifts? Your ideas are appreciated!
Thanks!

Prior to my wedding and baby shower, for any gifts that were mailed to our home, we made a list of the gift and the sender. After we opened all the gifts at the shower, we went through the list of items we had already received and who the gift giver was. Such as...my step-mother gave us our rocker we picked out. Thanks so much it looks great in the room! And so on. Nothing too fun about that way though.
How about a facial Spa Party? It's a fun way to get the bride to be pampered! And the guests will have a great time getting facials done too! Let me know if you're intersted and I can send some details your way!
Is there any chance that the bride could drive back to WA with her gifts? My sister and I are from MN but living in IL and we had joint bridal showers and baby showers in MN. We drove back (granted, it's a much shorter trip from Chicago to MN than WA to IL, but it might be a nice road trip for you two or her girlfriends.)
