GOOD MORNING LADIES!! (and daddy's!!)

I ordered a set of Pampered Chef tomato colored salt & pepper shakers on ebay. I'm finally getting the cooking half of my kitchen into the Coca Cola Red theme...I have a kitchen and a eat-in area that is "separated" by a bar or cabinet extension (like an "L")...the eat-in area has my Coca-Cola stuff, pictures, calendar, clock, etc.

So any way - I ordered these shakers because I don't want EVERYTHING to be Coca-Cola - but I'd like some red in there - so I get them yesterday and I'm truly disappointed...the person shipped CERAMIC in an ENVELOPE!!! I e-mailed her to let her know one was broken (dah! tissue wrapped and loose in the envelope!!) and she asked if I want a replacement - well, yeah - but please don't send it in an ENVELOPE!! She stated this was the THIRD time that something had been broken via USPS...

If you sell things on ebay - how would YOU send glass and ceramic items? When I sell them - they are bubble wrapped and put in a box....to me - that's common sense...

Do you think it was wrong of me to ask her to ship it in a box instead of an envelope?

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm trying to work it with her before I get ebay involved...she just messaged me and told me she doesn't have another one - ugh!!! and I've looked on ebay today and there aren't anymore listed like that!!

MomCEO - thanks! My kitchen is a work in progress!! Making some small, affordable changes now...one piece at a time!!

Looks like I'll be mailing them back to her...I think I'll put them in a box though!!

You kitchen sounds amazing! eBay resolution center, the have excellent buyer insurance. You might have to provide a picture. They will give you a full refund. The seller was trying to save a penny, I would not leave a negative feedback, possibly ask for another one without the charge.

Not only was it right of you to do so but I would give her a very low rating on eBay.
Isn't there a place to comment on the shipper? I don't know, I have never bought from eBay.
You could and should comment on how this was the third item of hers that was shipped and broken and how she shipped ceramic in an envelope.
Common sense says ship glass in bubble wrap and a box, or at least packing peanuts.

I get that it is easier to toss them in an envelope but common sense and the reputation of the post office should give her an idea that wouldn't work. Plus if you have to keep replacing the items is it actually easier to toss them in an envelope?

Who knows maybe now she is thinking about it and won't do it in the future. Might save her a bit of grief.

I imagine she looked at those shakers and thought, "They're so little that they don't need a box. Look! They fit right in this envelope!"...which goes to show once again that common-senselessness is rampant.

No, you were not wrong to ask the seller to ship your replacement in a box. But I hope you did it nicely. Not that you shouldn't have been ticked off - but smiling communicates much better than yelling. I haven't been selling much on eBay lately, but when I do I always seem to listen better to buyers who don't treat me like the idiot I already know I am.

I probably would have said, "Yes, I'd appreciate a replacement. It will be more likely to arrive here safely if you wrap it up securely in bubble wrap instead of tissue, and put it in a box rather than a bag. I know it's a little more trouble, but I think you'll be surprised at how much better the Post Office will do with your products."

If she shrugged off that sound advice and shipped the replacement in a bag anyhow, I wouldn't do business with her again.
