I am almost seven months pregnant and i still have not gained very much wieght i have only gotten up to 123 so far i mean have alaways been lil before i got pregnant i probally wieghed somewhere around 110 but i am worried that i am not gaining enough wieght and that it could cause harm to my baby. of course my baby is still moving around as much as usaul or should i say as much as he usaully does because idk how much a baby should move around at seven months but i know my baby already ever sits still. i am also quite concerned that i might not carry my baby full term because there are some ppl in my family like my aunts and cousins that didnt go for full term there bodies couldnt carry the baby for the full term so that scares that i wont does anyone have any advice for me to maybe ease my mind??????????

What can I do next?

I had only gained about 25 lbs when I delivered. The important thing is that you eat well. Choose healthy foods. Te baby will take all of the nutrients it needs before you get any, so eat lots of protein, fruits and veggies--not junk to try to pack on pounds. Is your doc concerned? Discuss all of your concerns with your ob/gyn. Also, weight gain usually accelerates in the last month.

First off - is your doctor concerned about your weight? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you're eating healthy. You say you've already gained 13lbs... the baby will really start putting on weight during the last trimester. So I really wouldn't worry about that.

Don't worry about things you can't control. Easier said than done, I know. I'm not sure if the experiences of your Aunts and cousins are indicative of the kind of pregnancy you will have. Ask your doctor if this kind of family history is anything to be worried about.

Really though... try to have a positive attitude and believe that your baby will be beautiful and healthy.

When I got pregnant I immediately dropped 10 lbs ... not because of morning sickness (I didn't have any) but because I quit drinking alcohol. LOL ... I then gained a total of 30 lbs which put me 20 lbs heavier than before I got pregnant. I also have a friend who only gained 10 total. I would say as long as your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be. Good luck!!

While that's not a lot of weight, it is more important for your weight gain to come in later pregnancy that in early pregnancy (it's also easier to lose if you gain it later than earlier). Increase your fat and protein intake...what's finishing developing now is the brain and nervous system, plus the fat stores in your baby, so you need those two things. Eat avacado, olives, nuts, fish, as all have good fats and protein that your body can use...also eat whole grains like brown rice, stone ground whole wheat breads and pastas, oatmeal, etc.

As for the preterm delivery...one person's history doesn't make it yours.

My grandmother never carried a baby to term--all were born prior to 37 weeks. My mother carried me to term and my brother past (I was 40w0d and my brother was 40w3d)...I however, have not carried a baby to term, BUT, both of my babies were perfectly healthy and no NICU stay (even the one born at 34w0d).

Just eat healthy, make certain your calcium, fat and protein levels are high enough (you should be eating no less than 2000 calories per day, and if you have a high metabolism more like 2200) and just go with it. I only gained 12lbs total with my first (but that was only to 34 weeks) and 9 with my second (37w3d)...I was average/low weight for height when I got pregnant with my first and about 20lbs overweight when I got pregnant with my second though.

So you have gained 13 lbs so far? That is not that much but as long as the doctor says you are ok, I wouldn't worry too much. Since you are thin to begin with, you should aim to gain 25-35 lbs by the end of your pregnancy. Are you eating a good varied diet with healthy proteins and fats? The best way to avoid pre-term labor is to take care of yourself. Are you taking a a,multivitamin? I am not sure why your family did not go full term, there could be lots of reasons. But like I said, the best way to go full term is to take good care of yourself. Talk to your doctor during your next visit and see what he or she suggests...you sound like you will be a great mom.

Don't worry about your weight gain. You're fine.
I'm 32 weeks right now with my second and I'm only up 20 lbs. At the rate I've been gaining, I should finish out around 25-26lbs. I gained the same with my son and he's perfectly healthy. Some women gain more than others. Unless the doctor tells you that he's concerened that you're not gaining enough, I wouldn't give it another thought.
Look on the bright side, the less you gain, the faster you get your shape back after birth!

sounds like you are doing fine. you'll gain most of your weight the last two months, The baby puts on more weight , weight then because his organs are done or close to done growing. If your mom went full term you will prob too. relax and just let baby grow. all this stress isn't good for either of you.

Since you have never had to lose weight, you are probably unfamiliar with calorie counting. This process can be done in reverse....find out the number of calories and food groups you need to eat daily and keep track of them on a sheet of paper every day....everything you eat...this will help you keep track and go through the day knowing what you still need to consume to make your goal thru your pregnancy and breast feeding (if you plan too). I use Calorie King online (to keep track of what I CAN'T eat unfortunately=)...but you just need a little calorie book, pick it up anywhere, and it will give you a way to keep track for sure! Also try drinking an Ensure supliment dring each day...packed with protien, fiber and calcium they are used to help ill people keep weight on and the dark chocolate one isn't bad! Good luck!

I weighed 100 pounds when I got pregnant and was 127.5 when I delivered. I ate well throughout my pregnancy and my baby was three days late and healthy. If your doctor is not worried about it then you are fine. What does your doctor say? You should discuss your concerns with him/her. Also, don't just start eating junk in an effort to "bulk up". Eat lots of healthy foods.

Good Luck and God Bless!
