I suggested my SIL give my daughter a car for her 16th birthday...I also made the suggestion to my parents, sister and brother...no one listened to me. 😉
We always give my SIL's kids cash for their birthday, but our niece just turned 16. I'd like to give her something sentimental. Anything you've done for a relative's 16th birthday?

I was into photography, so I got a beautiful camera when I turned 16. My sister wrote, so she got a typewriter. This was back in the day.
I thought that was very appropriate and we used them till they were worn. We all got something that was practical, but much nicer than we would have otherwise to pursue our interests.
If she had a passion, then I'd consider something like that.
Can't go wrong with jewelry either :) Or a nice watch ..
My 15 year old niece made her Confirmation last month and I wanted something sentimental, so I got her this heart necklace from Tiffany's. I have the same one and I don't see her often (we live in different states). I hope she thinks of me when she wears it.

If the link doesn't work. Go to Tiffanys.com and search for elsa heart necklace. It's $200. I like the diamond earrings idea, too.
Our family has a tradition of giving the girls their first diamonds. Nothing ostentatious just small studs.
i think a charm bracelet with 16 charms, each that remind her of special times in her life.
My 21 year old loves Tiffany (so do I). We gave her a beautiful classic diamond necklace for Christmas 2014 and she loves it.
She has gone back and purchased another necklace with a heart that she wears with the necklace she has that is my late husband's thumb print. We have matching necklaces with the thumb print.
You can get a pretty piece of jewelry from Tiffany's starting around $150, maybe even lower. The box itself is a treasure!!
