Hi ladies,
I have finally hit my all time heaviest weight ever! It has been effecting my marriage, and actualy my whole life. I am finally willing to admit to myself honestly, that I need to embark on a weight loss program. I am looking for anyone who wishes to joing me in my journey. Sort of like accountability partners. A support team when in those times you want to grab the oreos. I will be writing everything that I eat in a notebook. I would love to exchange weight loss ideas and tips and find support. My goal is to lose 80 pounds.
I am meeting so many wonderful women who are in the same boat as me, and that helps allot to know I am not alone. We are forming a little group to echange ideas and to support each other on our journey. There is strength in numbers. We can do this ladies. If you would like to join, e mail me at ____@____.com thank you everyone for all your responses

I am at the same point with my weight as well. Having an accountability partner is a great idea and definately helps keep weightloss on track. I have a 14 month old son and I am alsmost as heavy as I was when I was 9 months pregnant - I need to loose 60 lbs. I just joined the gym close to my house and I am ready to start. Daily emails with what we ate the day before along with any exercise is a good start - what do you think?

Good for you for being willing to be honest about your health and happiness. Your daughters will no doubt look up to your positive choices as they get older!
I have such wonderful things to say about weight watchers, and it sounds like exactly what you need. I gained ten pounds after meeting and being courted by my husband (all that wine and dinners out) and then forty pounds with my son. I joined weight watchers to lose the last 25 pounds that didn't come off from delivery and breastfeeding, and I found the experience so wonderful.
What I love the most about WW is that you really learn to make smart choices, you aren't punished for "cheating". The program gives you the tools that you need to make smart choices, and then when you are done losing weight, you go on maintenence to transition into a new way of thinking and eating. It is a plan for real life. Just as you have had to learn to manage your time and money since you have become a mom, WW teaches you to manage your food, make good choices and be realistic about it. Remember that while we all slip up and fall off the wagon, the people that can get back on the wagon will be the ones who succeed. The people at WW I also found to be great, and that is what makes all the difference.
Way to go for starting this brave journey!!

It's funny that you wrote this. I decided the same thing last night. I have actually battled weight my whole life. But I also came to realize that I need to set a good example for my little girls. I don't want them growing up, having to deal with weight issues like I did. I was recomended a site calle SparkPeople. http://www.sparkpeople.com. I have been looking over the site, and it seems really valuable and usefull. They have food trackers, fitness trackers. It gives you a strength/excersize program that they recomend you follow. I have joined as Buttafly32681, I am willing to join you on this journey. Hope to see you at SparkPeople! (I will still join you if you don't join sparkpeople)

I need to do something so that I will be around to raise my kids. I feel so uncomfortable in my body. It seems almost impossible to do but I've got to do it.

I may not be what you need, but I have lots of experience with weight loss.
I am a 61 year old mother and grandmother, who has dealt with being overweight all of my adult life. Even though I had Bariatric Gastric surgery in 2005, I am still considered overweight. I would like to lose another 60-75 pounds. I have a hard time with exercising as I have spinal arthritis and central cord stenosis in my lumbar spine and in my neck.
I would be happy to help you as a support person. Where do you live? I am in Horseheads, NY. My e-mail is: ____@____.com

Hi J.,
I too would love to join you. I need to lose about 60lbs. It seems there are quite a few people who are interested as well based on the responses. Sometimes just having that support from other people can do wonders. I'm not sure what the best approach would be, but maybe starting a group on google can help as far as correspondence. It's by invite only and you can be the moderator. Just a thought. Either way, I'm willing to try anything, just send me a message!

Hi J.,
My girlfriend and I have been trying so hard to get in shape for the summer. We try all the "new" diet ideas out there. It's actully kind of fun to see who comes up with the next one. Although we both have children and work full time, we try any excuse to get together for exercise. Your girls can play a huge role in this and benefit from it too. We go to the park (with the kids), we've walk far to a WaWa just to get them Icee's and left without getting anything for ourselves. We talk throughout the day to tell eachother what we've eaten for lunch and try to see who's eating better. It's become a game. We are not into to the starvation diets although they come to mind as a quick fix LOL. But just know that if you ever tried it...It NEVER works and only gets worse when you do start to eat again. My friend and I love to meet new friends, becuase not only is it fun but it's comforting for hard working moms to get as much support as possible that our men would never understand. Please by all means, drop me a line and we'd love to help you achieve that goal without feeling like you're in boot camp. This is your turning point and we are part of your support. I live in Hamilton near Mercer County Park-so much to do there. My email is ____@____.com TTYS

I am also at the heaviest I have ever been. Though I am 5 months preg, I started this preg weighing more than when I delivered my last child 10 yrs ago. Though I am not dieting I do try to stick to low glycemic foods. I have had wonderful success losing and/or maintaining weight with this eating plan. Prepregnancy I was taking supplements as well and was really happy with the results. During pregnancy not going to take them though. I know I am doing everything I can to eat healthy and be healthly for the myself and the baby right now so, I have accepted (however reluctantly) that my weight will cont. to increase while I am preg. However, I know I can get right back on track afterwards and having a healthly baby is the most important thing! I do try to walk some, but even though it's early in the preg I get winded very easily! 3 and 6 are fun ages, you could bike ride with them, go for nature walks, walk your dog if you have one, even rollerskate (rollerblade) if you're adventerous! Congrats to you for being proactive and making healthly decisions!!!! Best of wishes. If you are interested in low glycemic foods (if your body doesn't have sugar to burn it will burn fat) you can get a book that lists the glycemic index for foods. If you want any info on it drop me a line, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

I am having my second (and last!) child tomorrow morning via c-section and I would LOVE to be your weight loss buddy! I have roughly the same goal, probably about 70 lbs for me. I will be breastfeeding/pumping too, and will probably be doing weight watchers. It's really the best. Because the good thing is you can grab those oreos, just grab 2 and not 8! You can still eat whatever you want, just in moderation. I've done it before and the weight just melted right off me, without even exercising. I will however be in the hospital probably until saturday so I won't be able to answer you back until this weekend. :)

Hi J.,
With summer around the corner (weather's actually been gorgeous all weekend here), I too really need to lose weight. I don't know exactly how much in pounds, as I'm in Europe and I work with metric, but I can work it out.
I have been unhappy with my weight for a long time. I have had mobility problems for 5 yrs due to complications of my last pregnancy. I moved countries last summer to be able to finally get therapy. I am finally allowed to ride a bike again, and to start doing normal things. Now I really want to tackle the weight thing. I tried Weight Watchers last year and just lost heart, as I was not losing anything in spite of sticking to the diet so well. I think a need to lose a bit less than you, but I do have some things going against me, so it may still take me ages to achieve weight loss. I am allergic to all fruit and nearly all veg, and have hayfever. I need a double dose of anti-histamine a day, but it makes me put on weight. I am very limited in what I can actually eat (bread, potatoes, pasta - no dairy) so for me I think the only way will be a)exercise, b)no snacking. Anyway, if you don't mind that I won't always be online at the same time as you, I'm willing to be your buddy.
Take care,
A.

I work with busy moms like you in one on one and group programs using small food and lifestyle changes that make a big difference. I would suggest that your goal becomes better health for you and your family. Unnecessary weight will drop off as a happy side effect.
When you work hard to "lose weight" it often finds you again! Diets don't work! More than 90% of weight lost thru dieting is regained! Most importantly, you don't want to model dieting/ weight loss to your daughters. A shocking # of 10 year olds have already experimented with diets and while that may sound crazy, it happens as a result of them following their parents behavior.
There really is a better way. Better health can be fun, delicious and completely sustainable. No need to struggle and suffer. It's easier than you might think.
My website is www.drsusanrubin.com I also have an ebook called DUMP YOUR DIET! on the website.

Hi J.!
I just wanted to let you know of a great weight loss site that a friend introduced me to. it's COMPLETELY free.
Basically it's counting calories...but I think there are other types of diets available on there. There are a TON of support groups and a calorie counter that has every food imaginable on there. Anyway...Hope it helps.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hi J.! I'd like to join you in your quest for weight loss/better health! I am a stay at home mom and have 3 young children (8-girl; 6 & 4-boys) so they keep me somewhat active. I am also working 3 part time jobs from the home, so finding time for exercise has been limited - unless i'm running around with the kids. :0) However, I would grab a bag of chocolate or cookies or whatever and make it a meal! So I, too, will start the notebook of eatings and become accountable. I wish you luck on your journey and hope to hear from you! -K.

Losing weight is not an easy thing. But it is doable. I have lost about 20 lbs since January and am back to the weight I used to be. I did the weight watchers diet faithfully along with 6 day a week work-outs. I cut out the soda, fried foods, and anything with cream or bread from my diet. Now I am at the maintainging stage. I still work out 5 days a week and mostly eat healthy foods...eat lots of vegies and stay away from the starches. And alcolhol really packs it on....I enjoy a couple glasses of wine on the week-ends now but no more than that. I did the diet on my own but it definitely would have been nice to have a partner to share the pain with!!! Good luck and stay strong!

I needed to lose 80 lbs as well - I am already 15 pounds down - but more importantly I have lost over 5% body fat - built up more muscle mass and lost 5 inches off my waist and it has been less than 2 months. I am following the Transitions Lifestyle. It is not a temporary diet. It is training me to eat right for life. It focuses on eating the right foods instead of cutting calories (like Weight Watchers) or cutting out entire food groups (like Atkins) and it is EASY. The first week was torture but since then hasn't felt like a diet at all. I am full for a long time after eating - I don't get crazy cravings for things I shouldn't have - I was not hungry and I actually had to set up reminders to make myself eat! I have so much more energy and my headaches are all but gone - I actually WANT to exercise (amazing, right?) and my big ol' belly is slowly decreasing in size so I don't look perpetually prgnant anymore...YAY!
I would be more than willing to be partners with you - even if we aren't following the same program. Send me a message and let me know :)
