P.M.
I go to Dr. Dicker in Westwood. They are really good, and even have a midwife in their group. They would be open to your suggestions.
Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I am 3 1/2 months pregnant with my second child and would like to consider a VBAC. ( I had a c-section with my son) My current OB office does not favor VBACs and I would like to find an office that does. It's hard enough to go through labor with supportive people I don't want to be with someone who is pushing towards something I don't want. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
S.

Check with the offices of Dr. Englert, Fallon and Seymour. They are located at 420 Grand Avenue in Englewood. They are a wonderful group. Good Luck!
Hi S.,
My OB/GYN is located in Oradell on Kinderkamack Road. He is wonderful and very understanding to his patient's needs. He also is a very down to earth man. I have had a rough pregnancy the 1st time around and I am due any day with baby #2 and again a very difficult pregnancy and he has been there 100% for my needs. He also has a vey nice group of gals that work for him!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
You might want to try Lonnie Morris who runs the Childbirth Center in Ft. Lee. She is a nurse midwife and works with an OB for backup coverage. If you really want an OB you might check with the La Leche group in your area (there was one meeting in Teaneck or Tenefly last I heard). There seems to be a network of birth related professionals (doulas, birth educators, lactation cousultants, etc.) and both the midwife and the LaLeche leaders I talked to know a lot of the same people.
I am also in a similar situation with considering if I want to try VBAC now that I am pregnant with my second baby. I had a midwife and doula with me for my labor (18 hrs) but needed a c-section at the end of it.
You are welcome to drop me an email since it looks like we have kids with very similar ages--my son is 29 months and I am 3 months pregnant now and we are in the same county.
Hi S.! You should check out CityMommy! There are moms specifically in your area that can help you find a good doc that meets all your needs! You will love the directory of local resources and events calendar as well! Its invitation only, so log onto northjersey.citymommy.com and use the registration code "njmommy" see you online!!

I had a very similar situation to you. I had a c-section with my daughter because she was breach. Then when I got pregnant with my 2nd, my doctor told me it would be an automatic c-section. I wanted to at least try for a VBAC because I didn't want to have to limit how many kids I had just because of C-sections. Anyway, I had a friend who was in the same boat as me. She called pretty much all the doctors in Bergen county and only found 2 that would do VBACs. Hers is one and mine is the other. I'm afraid I don't have the name of her doctor, but my doctor is Dr. Milinda Carson at 2 Dean Dr, Tenafly, NJ. Her phone number is ###-###-####.
Throughout my pregnancy with my son, I didn't know if I would be able to have a VBAC, primarily because towards the end it looked like he was also breach. In fact, I had a scheduled c-section because he was breach. We got to the hospital and I was all set to go in and have the c-section when Dr. Carson checked by ultrasound and my son had turned. Most doctors, especially in this area, would have just pushed for the c-section to get it over with. Not Dr. Carson. She left the decision completely in my hands. Since I was given the opportunity to still try for a VBAC, I just couldn't give it up. About a week later I went into labor and had a very successful VBAC. I will always be so grateful to Dr. Carson for being so absolutely willing to be on my side instead of just doing what was the easiest thing for her. Good luck!
(And although my c-section was not nearly as difficult as I had feared, there was no comparison between that and my VBAC. I was on the highest high of my life after having my son from all the natural endorphins and hormones associated with giving birth. And I was up and moving around so quickly. I highly recommend the VBAC experience.)
Hi S.! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I understand wanting to VBAC and searching for the right OB is the way to start. I would suggest you try Dr. Eric Bentolila in Ridgewood. He is a wonderful, warm doc and does do VBACs. You could also try the midwife Lonnie Morris. She catches babies at Palisades General but has an office in Englewood (I think that is where she is). I would also recommend you hire a doula - it ups your chance of successfully VBACing.
Good luck!

Hi S.,
You are in luck. Lonnie Morris is a well respected midwife in the Bergen Co area. She is currently working out of Fort Lee and delivering at Palisades General. I had my 2nd and 3rd kids with her (no VBACs) and she was great. I know from a neighbor that she is one of the few who will perform VBACs in this area. Her # is ###-###-####. She does work with doctors in case that worries you. Good luck and congrats!
