Seeking Suggestions for Lightweight Stroller

We have the Combi lightweight stroller and it is great. It is easy to fold up/down and it reclines. Have a great trip!

I would just rent one there...you can rent one of the double strollers, and there is enough room for him to crash out, & it has some shade. That way you won't have to deal with the hassel of carting it there....you can rent them right whne you get off the monorail..ypu pay there, and then go thru the gate and pick it up..

For that age child the Mclaren is the best lightweight stroller!

I've been to Disneyworld with a toddler and a larger stroller. Although a larger stroller might be a little more inconvenient to travel with, its worth its weight in gold when you have to use it for 10 hours a day. Always carry your valuables with you in a fanny pack but keep the babies diapers, change of clothes, snacks on the stroller. Also the reclining and protective umbrella for shade are priceless. Gets pretty hot in Orlando.

By the way, if you are a Disneyworld Resort guest, you don't have to carry your souvenirs/packages around the parks. Just pay for them at the register and you can have them delivered to your room. Disneyworld resorts offer in-room babysitting, ...this is valuable after their bedtime, you can tuck them in. While they are sleeping do the Resort "after hours" (for all the large rides you couldn't do while you had the baby with you during the day).

I grew up at Disney and we lived there for a long time with kids. We used to take our own stroller, for the same reasons you mentioned. Then we stopped. Now when we go back to visit friends and family, we just rent their strollers. It's so much easier because you dont have to worry about someone stealing your stroller or about packing it around on the airplane.

I agree with using the Disney strollers. We went the last 2 Springs when our grand daughter was 3 & 4. The first year, she used them a lot and it was great not fighting with them on the bus. The second year, we got them, but she didn't stay in it that much. We used it more to store our stuff while we went on rides.

We are avid Disney goers and have gone every year with our kids since they were babies (now 5/8) and we've done it all. The Disney rentals are great for bigger kids who don't really need to nap but may need a spot to rest their little feet but they are plastic and not comfortable at all for a child trying to sleep, they don't recline and the "baskets/netting" in the back does not really hold alot of stuff except maybe a water bottle and small items. I highly recommend taking a lightweight stroller that does recline and folds easily...be sure to test them well in the store before buying. Check out your local children's resale store....they sell all kinds of strollers WAY cheaper than buying new and you may luck out with a great buy! Have fun and good luck!

I took a five year old to Disney in May 2008. I absultely reccomend taking a full size stroller that reclines if you have one or can borrow one. They accomodate strollers very well at the parks. Thay even have stroller parking areas to park your strollers in each "area". So you can park your stroller, ride the rides in that area, then go pick up your stroller before you trek to the next area of the park. Have a great time! It's magical!

I would recommed the JEEP All Weather Umbrella Stroller. You can find one at Target for $50, worth every penny! I love ours. It's seriously the best stroller I have tried and I have had a few. It seems to be pretty comfy, my daughter loves riding in it. She is 23 months, but I know we will have this for a while. It's built strong and sturdy and moves around surprisingly well. No issues with it so far.

I have a Chico umbrella stroller. I love it. It has a sun shade, comes with rain gear, it reclines, has padded handles and has a basket on bottom. It is sturdy enough to be able to support a purse and a diaper bag hanging on the handle even when your child is not sitting in it. The cheap ones will not do that and that really impressed me when I got it. It is a good buy!

We went to Disney World last June. My boys were 7 and 5 and we rented a double stroller at Disney. It is expensive to rent but I felt like it was worth it because I didn't have to carry a stroller on the buses, airport, etc. I was glad both boys had a place to sit because they both got tired. I was about 28 weeks pregnant and I even sat in it when we watched parades - it was quite a sight but I didn't care.

Here's another vote for renting a stroller at Disney. Very easy to obtain, large enough for a bigger kiddo, and you don't have to deal with shopping for a new one, paying for a new one, and carting it around everywhere, then trying to figure out what to do with it when you get home.

5 is NOT too young for a stroller, especially at WDW. I bought a Maclaren and LOVE it. I bought it through Craig's List in Orlando. It was the coolest thing. A lady was wanting to sell it so she didn't have to take it on the plane. I paid $40 and used it the 10 days we were at WDW then used it another year after that. I lost it in NY when a cabby put it in the trunk and I was too tired and forgot to get it out. Bought another one the next day in NY and never thought twice. They make a great light weight stroller that is very compact and has a shoulder strap to help you carry it while holding on to a little one's hand. Have a GREAT time.

Don't want to dwell on the negative but thought I would give you another tip we did. We wrote our cell phone number on the inside of our son's tennis shoe. That way if he got separated he knew where the number was. He knew the number by memory but I didn't know if he was scared whether he would remember or not. We also introduced him to several employees wearing their uniforms and tags so he would know who to go to for help. We have been 3 times and never got separated but wanted to have a plan in case.

I think they have strollers available that come with the price of admission. I'm sure you can call or look online.

Honestly, we would rather rent the Disney strollers. I know that it's sometimes a pain but then you don't have to carry it with you on the buss and if you go to a different park you can just show your tag.

I just bought an Inglesina Swift off of craig's list. It reclines all the way back, steers very smoothly and has a little basket underneath. It will hold up up to 45 lbs. My daughter seems to love it and it seems pretty light weight and affordable!

I second the suggestion of the Combi Cosmo. I purchased one for my then 5 year old daughter for our trip to Disney World and we loved it. It is very lightweight and maneuvers easily. It reclines and offers some shade and has a basket. It held up great and also folded easily for the bus rides. Renting a stroller there is not a bad option, though, especially since your kid is 5 and can walk if needed to the buses. 5 is not too old for a stroller at Disney! Have a great time!

Most of the higher end Maclaren strollers recline. They're a little more expensive than most umbrella strollers, but very durable. Before going out and buying one though, I'd compare the price of purchasing to the price of renting a stroller at Disney. Have a fun trip!

My kiddo is a Disney World Veteran. She has been there 4 times and she is 4 years old. She mostly wants to walk, but that gets old after the first hour. And we just can't handle carrying her around all day.

I am going to agree with the other moms about the Maclaren strollers. Although they are pricy, we bought the cheapest model they have and have not regretted it. Our Maclaren Volo carries a whopping 55 pounds of preschooler. It is lightweight and folds to the size of a stadium umbrella. If you get caught in a Florida shower, it dries quickly. Since it is so light, it maneuvers well. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.

I would advise against renting a park stroller. At a whopping $15 a day, you would spend about $105 dollars for a week at Disney World. I think you could just about rent a CAR for that amount. Also, it justifies paying the extra money for a nice Maclaren stroller because you buy that and its good for life (or at least until the 55# wt limit).

No matter what you choose, I think you'll have a great time. We're going to the World again next month, maybe we'll see you there!

I took my four year old to Disneyworld last year while my husband was at a conference. I took the umbrella stroller instead of the Peg Perego and had no problems with it. It was easy to get on the bus and to store in the stroller parking area. My daughter has juvenile arthritis and I found out on the second day that I could get her a special stroller pass so we could take the stroller through the line for each ride (instead of me having to carry her when her joints started aching). I'm so glad I didn't have the larger stroller in that case. My daughter managed to sleep in the umbrella stroller all three days. Though it may not be the most comfortable, especially if you can find something you like better, I wanted to share that my daughter seemed perfectly content riding and sleeping in the umbrella stroller on and off for three 12+ hour days.

We have the Combi Cosmo stroller. I love the way it folds up and can be carried over your shoulder. It fully reclines and can hold up to 55 lbs.

yes please take a stroller. i've been there and i was 21 and i wish i had a stroller for myself. Next year when i take my 7 and 6 year olds i will be taking my double stroller!!!!
