Family Health Plus is definitelys omething to look in to, it will be the best and cheapest for a family of your size, and tell them you are prego, they may put you into teh PCAP progranm which is great when you are pregnant. When I got pregnant I had no insurance and went down thsi road, my daughter is two and i still have paid nothing for inusurance for her(all presecriptions covered 100%, all doctors appts., all shots, it was even covered when i had to take her to a pediatric surgeon like 4 times.) as well as having all my prenatal visits and my hospital stay covered 100%. Good Luck, Insurance can be quite a headache.

Hi J.,

There are a few web sites that let you compare ins. plans and premium prices that you might find helpfull. Two I found are ehealthins.com and healthinsureancefinders.com. You can compare rates and company's kind of like car ins. Hope this helps! Good luck. Also, I'm not sure what your financial situation is but the insureance through the State of Ct covers medical, dental, vision and prescriptions if you qualify. You might even be able to get state ins for the kids and only have to pay for yourself and your husband privately b/c almost all children qualify for health coverage.

my advice: I just saw a movie called "Sicko" today, a michael moore film documentary about the 'situation' of managed health care in America. SEE THIS MOVIE. No lie, I want to move to another country (ie: Canada/England/France... but I don't speak French....) to obtain their free medical care. Or maybe, Cuba. It's a whole movie with interviews of people, even WITH medical insurance, who lost everything, who's health is failing, people who lost loved ones because their insurance didn't cover this or that, this movie will blow your mind. If I didn't have insurance WITH money to back it up.... and I found out I had some serious illness? I would head strait out of here, fast. America is the laughing stock of the world, when it comes to how it takes care of it's citizens' health. See this movie, it'll blow your mind. I just saw it today, that's why it's fresh in my mind and I'm rambling about it LOL.... good luck finding health care. England's looking WAAAAY better! So's Canada... but it's so COOOOOLD up there! LOL

I think your only option for yourself is to go to the state. I could be wrong but I think since you are already pregnant they wont insure you (preexisting condition) but the state will all depends on your husbands income. NJfamilycare.com :-)

In CT, uninsured children up to age 18 can get health insurance through the Husky Health Net plan, a state run insurance. They do have other options for families but if I am not mistaken you would be able to qualify because you are currently pregnant. I did not have to pay anything when I had my son. They do go by income levels but if you do not qualify for the free care for you and your husband, they probably have a plan for really low co-pays. It is definitely worth looking into. The Customer Contact Center is 1-800-820-0210. I wish you all the best with your new arrival! Happy 2008!

Depending on where you reside, you and your family may qualify for public health insurance programs. For example, I work at a community health center in New York City. We see patients that are enrolled in programs that provide free and/or low-cost health insurance to New Yorkers. They are Child Health Plus (for children) and Family Health Plus (for adults). These insurances cover medical, dental, vision, prescriptions, and yes, prental care, labor & delivery, as well as many other services. These programs are based on monthly income as well as household size. Even if you are an upper-class family, your children can still be a part of this program!

If you would like more information, I will be glad to assist you. Just respond to this message.

If you reside outside of New York, inquire with your city's Department of Health about public programs such as these. Hope this helps and good luck!

You need to go online and look into Family health Plus which is a state subsidized health care program based on a sliding fee scale to your income. You choose your own doctors from a large list and it covers 100%.
It's a little annoying to apply because of state beaurocracy, paperwork, etc, but it's a great program if you qualify.

Good luck!
