I am in search of daycare recommendations for the Stamford, CT area. There are so many daycare centers in the yellow pages that I have no idea how you choose one, that's why we'd like a recommendation.

Hi L..

Congratulations!! Are you still looking for childcare. My name is Kimberly and I own BreakThru Family Fit 4 Life and my mom and her business partner have childcare onsite. They never have(or want)more than 5 children so everyone has so much attention!! Over 10 years experience with many personal and profession references. Call MaryAnn ###-###-#### if your interested and thanks.

The first thing you need to do when searching for a daycare center is to visit the place and check it out for yourself. I visited many centers before settling on one in particular. Once you narrow down a couple of good ones, pay another vist or two at different times during the day (early morning, mid afternoon). If the day care center staff discourages unannounced visits, then you know thats not where you want to put your child. I finally settled on a center called Baby Cottage. They have one on Newfield ave and one on Hope street. My son was 4 months when he started and he is doing very well. The staff is always plesant, and they welcome parent visits at any time during the day. If your interested in contacting them, the number for the Hope street center is ###-###-####. Ask for Tanya Gayle. Good Luck!

Don't go to Bright Horizons at High Ridge. I has twins and it was extremely difficult to find a place with a slot for 2. they are now 2 1/2 and have been at Bright Horizon for a year and a half. At first my kids were happy and I felt they were safe but that all has changed. They are being investigated by DFC and the Dept of Pulbic Health. First in December I was told my son may have been abused multiple times over a period of time by a teacher. Now just last week we discovered marks on him and he now refuses to go into his room there. Another teacher is now also under invetigation for abusing him.

I'm in the same boat with you, L.. I'm sorry I don't have any advice right now, but I'm currently doing some research in Stamford. If I come up with something, I'll let you know.

I have 2 weeks to find something. I do have a 'friend' lined up to start taking care of my 10-week old, but there are some circumstances that are forcing me to look closer to my job, which is in Stamford (I live in Norwalk).

I'll let you know if I find something that 'wows' me!

Take care....
