Hello All,
I have a 2yr old daughter and I am currently looking into enrolling her in a preschool. I would prefer a free school, but I don't mind paying tuition. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Our staff would be happy to help you look for preschool opportunities in your area of Houston. If you might be eligible for assistance while you are in school or working, we can give you the contact information to apply for childcare assistance.
Our service is free, and you can request to be matched with lower cost preschools or caregivers who have said that they are somewhat flexible with their fees, offering a preschool program in a small-group home setting and registered by the State of Texas. Call Collaborative for Children at ###-###-####.

St.Paul's Preschool in Nassau Bay is a very good one. You have a choice as to how many days you want to put her in. Very loving environment with good programs. Tuition is reasonable, just call and ask them.

www.valuesparenting.com has a wonderful program called Joy School. it is a co-op type preschool which is taught by the mothers, and you rotate. So, you might have 4 children the same age or close in age including your child, and you teach it two days in a week, and then the other three weeks (two days each) are taught by the other parents, rotating. It's a great program and very, very affordable and emotionally rewarding. I did it and loved it (and am starting a group in NW Houston for my 4yo son to participate in). Hope you have a good week and lots of fun researching your options!

Q. I don't know of any free preschools, I think depending on where you live there may be reduced price preschool at age three at your public school. At two I think it's considered "mother's day out" and it is for two or three half days.

you didn't indicate a location...that helps. As for a free pre-school for a 2 year old, stop looking because you won't find one. Do you have a church and if so, does it have a Mother's Day Out/Pre-school? That is the best place to start because you know what kind of care your child will get. If you use your church program, you will be establishing a chiod/teacher relationship that can last a lifetime.
