Seeking OBGYN in Chicagoland Who Specializes in VBAC

Hi, I had my first daughter via c-section, but I really want to deliver naturally with the next. My current doctor will only perform a c-section, so I'm in need of an excellent natural geared obgyn. A friend recommended Jean Walker out of Rush, who I heard is fantastic, but she isn't accepting any ob patients at this time. I would prefer to deliver at Rush. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am seeing Dr. Teresa Hubka, DO, an osteopathic OB/GYN. but she delivers at Swedish Covenant which is from what I have heard very VBAC friendly and have the L&D nurses who support natural and VBAC births. Dr. Hubka has a 4% c-section rate, which is unheard of, she really works with you to have your VBAC as natural as you want. I am delivering any day now, she will not do any unnecessary inductions either. She is also a dietitian and will educate you on how to best take care of yourself nutritionally. Here is her info:

I would highly recommend looking for a midwife... there are several hospitals in the area where midwives practice. They work with an OB/GYN as a backup in case you end up needing a c-section, but the midwives will be very patient with allowing your body to go into labor and deliver naturally. I had a 10 pound baby, I was in the hospital for over 51 hours before she was born, and my water was broken for over 24 hours... any doc would have cut me open, but my midwives trusted my body to do what it was meant to do, and sure enough I eventually had a vaginal delivery (I did end up choosing to have an epidural, and they were supportive of that as well). I delivered at West Suburban Hospital with the practice West Suburban Midwives. But usually any midwives are a pretty good bet. Good luck!!!

I highly recommend Dr Judy Hibbard at UIC. I had a successful VBA2C with her 3 months ago and she was fantastic.

BTW, Rush has an absurdly high c-section rate - approaching 50%. UICs is the lowest in the city at 11%.
