My son had a bad reaction to eggs. We had him tested, and the test showed he was allergic to eggs. But he is able to eat things that have eggs baked in them, such as cake, cookies, breads, etc. So I'm hoping he will grow out of the egg allergy. Also, I've come to the conclusion that he is allerigic to dogs/dog dander/saliva. We have a dog, but he breaks out in hives only when he rubs up on her or she licks him. Usually the hives disappear if I wash the area with water & soap.
My son is 13 months and he is allergic to latex.... i was told that citrus fruit and melons have similar componets as latex so we stay away from them!
My son has a minor allergy to citric foods. We had him tested last yr and it was what i figured it was. It makes his eczema act up. However it is very minor so every six months they want me to try it out and give him some because they are sure he will eventually grow out of it. Citric foods are not a dangerous allergy though. My one daughter had a bad break out the first time we ever gave her shrimp and so we have not given her any since. Her doctor has her marked as having shellfish allergies so we just have to make sure her food is not cooked on the same surfaces as shellfish if we go out to eat. Shellfish can have as severe a reaction as peanuts. I know every exposure brings a more severe reaction so just in case we need it I have it on my list to talk to the doctor about an epi pen so we have it just in case we ever need it. But again they can even grow out of these allergies too. But because shellfish allergies are not something to mess with she has to go get tested every couple of years to see if she has grown out of it. It isn't something we can test with food at home. Peanuts are harder because they use peanuts in sooooooooo many things. One thing I know I have to keep in mind with the shellfish is that it is in some medications...Even Iodine. So we have to remind different docs who aren't familiar with her (like at the ER when she is really sick on a weekend and we can't get into her ped) that she has shellfish allergies. I am not sure if this is an issue with nuts so you might want to look into it. I hope this all helps....Do a lot of research and you will be fine.
Dealing with allergies during breastfeeding right now. I am currently living on rice and chicken and black beans... he is only 4 months, and too young to allergy test, so we aren't positive of the culprit(s)....
But I have found a wonderful product called SunButter. It is sunflower seed butter, that tastes exactly like peanut butter. I've been able to have that and it has had no reactions with him, like peanut and cashew butter have. I can find it at Mustard Seed, Whole Foods, and sometimes Giant Eagle.
How old is your daughter?
My daughter has severe nut allergies. When I say severe, I mean that if she smells a peanut we have to go to the hospital. She also used to be allergic to milk protein and we have recently found out that penicillin can be added to the list. I have dealt with this for six years, so any info you need, I probably have.
HI L.,
My 16 month old has food allergies. He is allergic to Peanut Butter (ok w/ peanuts) and bananas, thats all we know for now....
My youngest daughter is allergic to eggs and we are also avoiding nuts. We are learning now that she may be allergic to latex or elastic.....something in pull-ups??? Still trying to figure it out. We always carry an Epi pen! We are in Toledo, OH.

My 8 month old has allergies to rice, and rice flour. We haven't had him tested but that seems to be the culprit for his rashes. We have a appt. with a allergist to find out for sure and to see if he has any other allergies.Rice allergies are uncommon here in the states,is what I read.So I'm still learning as well.
My son is allergic to milk, soy, egg, strawberry, citrus, tomato, latex, a couple drug allergies. We avoid peanuts and treenuts. He has a disease called mastocytosis and another called Eosinophilic esophagitis. Both also come with allergies, so we actually have a very long list of foods/meds/and other things we have to avoid because would possibly cause anaphylaxis. What local support group do you run?
l have a 4 year old son that has multiple food allergies. He was diagnosed with walnut allergy class 3 two years ago. Due to a recent allergic reaction to pecans, he was diagnosed as allergic to all tree nuts. He kept getting sick, and I asked for additional allergy testing. He is also a class 2 peanut allergy, class 3 for strawberries, apples, cherries, carrots, and class 1 for yeast. Do you know of any support groups in the Toledo area? I would like to join one. Thanks!
