P.,
I know a mom at my boy's school who recently had twin girls. I think they are about 8 weeks now. They live in Vancouver and her husband is gone often too. If you would like to send me your information I can forward it on to her.

Are there any local Moms clubs for twins (Vancouver, WA area)? I have so many questions, from finding a good pregnancy journal and baby book(s) that address twins, to advice on juggling older children with new babies, to equipment... I found a club for parents of twins in the area, but from what I could tell on the website these families seemed to have twins who are school age and older, and I could really use Moms who are either expecting or have not too long ago had twins born...
I decided to put up a Facebook for new parents of twins (in the Vancouver, WA area, but areas close by also welcome!!). If you're interested, it's at: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=61503993600 or, search by twins Vancouver, WA and you should be able to find it that way too.
Thanks everyone for the replies!

My identical twin boys just turned two so they're not newborns but I do still remember some twin baby stuff and would love to be able to help someone else just heading into the experience. We live off Mill Plain in Vancouver. Feel free to E-mail or call me ###-###-####.

My twins are 2 1/2, they will be three May 10th. My daughters are 11 & 13. So you can see there is an age gap as well. I haven't been able to find anything very useful in the Vancouver area, but would be more than glad to correspond with you. Our babies were 5 1/2 weeks early, and the hospital here was absolutely amazing. My friend who lives in Gresham also just had twins about 3 weeks ago.
Southwest Washington Medical Center has a multiples support group on Fridays at 10 a.m. in the Family Birth Center. It's for new and expecting mom's of multiples. The other thing I would suggest is attending the New Mom Tea (I think it's called Your Baby, Your Time now), the next is Feb 16th and they have them about 4 or 5 times a year. You need to preregister, but it's free. That is an excellent place to connect with moms. Go to www.swmedicalcenter.org and it's under the Women's and Children's services section.
I know this because when I was expecting twins (and had another baby already) I started attending the new mom tea and connected with three other mom's with brand new twins! The facilitators of the tea are absolutely wonderful. Julie was also our birthing class instructor and she is absolutely wonderful. I didn't attend the multiples support group though, but I met some of the mom's who attended - nice ladies.
Good luck and congratulations!
I have heard great things about "Full House Moms & Dads" - it's a network of parents, expectant parents or legal guardians of multiple birth children in the Portland-metro area. http://www.fullhousemoms.com/
I don't have newborns, but I have some experience. I have twin boys that will be 3 in March and a 18yr old step-son (who lives with us) in college. So you can see its like having three kids. hehe. Anyway, I am no expert but if you would like to correspond with me, then you can keep my email. My twins are #7 out of 8 sets within 3 generations.
