If you're being serious, you're in the wrong place for answers! You should be at the school!

He didn't pass! So he goes to summer school to make up the missing credits, or he repeats 8th grade. There's no way a school shouldn't be talking to you about this. You and your son need to be in the guidance office NOW - and why haven't you been there all along, working on his lack of progress?

And if you're not seriously inquiring, as others have suggested, then I need to ask why you are using this site and taking up people's time.

No, you register him for 8th grade.

Because he needs to pass 8th grade before he can go on to high school.

Some of your reponses to M. were not very kind. There were people judging her and her reason for asking her question. How do you know if English is her first language? How do you know she understands the school system?

My mother was not from the U.S. and she did not understand the school system and her English was not (and still isn't) very strong. I had to help her whenever I could. There were always people who judged her and even made fun of her. I love my mother very much and it hurt when people mistreated her.

M. - if your son did not pass the 8th grade, please talk to his school. They may be able to help either get him enrolled in summer school or to help with re-enrolling him to repeat the 8th grade. They might be able to help provide a tutor to help him with classes. Good luck to you.

I'm almost positive you won't be able to. You need to go and speak to the Guidance Counselor at your Child's School, and work out a plan for your child to take the appropriate courses to pass 8th Grade.

NO he cannot go to HS until he gets through 8th grade>
BUT IT may be possible for him to attend Summer school
and make up much of the work, learn and advance in some skills.

I do know of one 8th graders who did not pass 8th grade simply because she never handed in her homework. But because she wanted to remain with er class and friends---she spent more time in Summer school and doing her former homework then she did playing around throughout the summer.

Yet it is also up to you to make sa stand as to what he does----flunk and go back a grade or move and on and complete your responsibilities as a student whether he likes school or not!

Whoa! This is a public forum and people will answer you. You may not like the answer but at least they DID take the time to reply.

Go to the school and find out what is needed so that he may go to high school in a year. In the meantime, start working with your child and be in your child's life more. Otherwise you will receive more responses like the ones you did not like. As they say, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

No need to bash us all because you did not like the answer(s).

PS Jersey had strict requirements for passing grades when I was a kid and that would be considered in the covered wagon era. If you don't do the work, you don't get to go to the next grade.

How many credits do you need? If it's just a couple of classes, you might be able to make it up in summer school, just in time to go to high school. Talk to your counselor at school for advice. Don't just try to do it over the phone. Make an appointment, and then show up and talk face to face. That effort will work in your favor.
