Seeking Ideas on How to Hang Curtains

I live off post in Lamperteim, a community about 10 min away from Mannheim. My walls are cement/concrete and there is nothing already there to hang curtains. Does anyone have any idea how I can hang curtains witout drilling holes into the walls. Or is drilling holes the only way. I've seen these adhesive hooks at the PX but do they really work?

What can I do next?

Yes, the adhesive hooks (the removable ones) do work, as long as you observe the weight guidelines. You may want to try tension curtain rods, which will hold lightweight curtains. They should be available at the PX.

I've used the adhesive hooks that you mentioned in our apartment and they work pretty well. I think they should be strong enough to hold curtains. Just make sure you follow the instructions and don't hang anything on them for at least an hour after you stick it to the wall.

Hi C.,

When you say curtains, are you talking about lace/voile panels or do you mean lined curtains? If you refer to the earlier then you could use the metal tension rods which just slot into the window recess area. On the other hand if you are referring to proper curtains which need poles to hand on then I am afraid you will have to drill into the walls. Another option would be to use roman blinds velcrowed to a wooden batten, but then the batten would have to be attached to the wall. At one of the DIY stores here in England we have a product called 'No More Nails'. It's a heavy duty glue like substance, found in a tube, and you just squeeze it onto whatever you are fixing and hold in place for a few seconds. It is quite permanent and can be difficult to remove without taking off some of the plaster, so you might want to consider that before you decide. Best of luck.

Buy Velcro...You will hot glue the Velcro to the wall. You will also have to attach the Velcro to the curtain (I recommend either stitch witchery or sewing). Then attach the 2 pieces of Velcro together. Just make sure that your pieces are long enough to pull off. When you leave, all you have to do is pull the Velcro off the wall. It comes off pretty easy, once you can get a grasp and pull. Hope this helps

I don't know if your landlord will allow you to do this, but there are curtain rods that attach to the wood frame itself. You can purchase them at the PX and they are like little hooks that screw into the wood frame itself, but they are really small. They are in the curtain section if you want to find them. The only problem, is it only covers the window, and not the "box" around the window. Our apartment has at least two on each window. One for the top and one for the middle. You can also purchase the little curtains for these at the PX.
