Seeking Home in Family-oriented Community

My husband and I are thinking about moving this year. We currently live in the King Farm area in Rockville MD. We are thinking about selling our townhome and buying a single family home in a good school district in Montgomery County. We also are looking for a very family-oriented community, specifically families with young children. I have a 5-month old. We are looking at North Potomac neighborhoods in the Wooton High School district and Quince Orchard H.S. We saw some homes in or around Travillah/Dufief/Darnestown area. Does anyone have any insights on these neighborhoods or any other neighborhoods. I know we are leaving an ideal community right now (King Farm), but we really would like a single-family house. SFH in King Farm and Kentlands are not in our price range. We looked at homes in Germantown and Clarksburg, too. Any insights on these areas? And areas to stay clear away from? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My husband and I were originally thinking of purchasing in the same North Potomac area as you and your husband. After further investigation, we finally chose Manor Woods in Rockville, 20853. It's VERY family oriented. There are kids everywhere. We have four kids, our immediate neighbors have 3, their immediate neighbors have 3, then 2, then 6, etc. ... and that's just on our street! There is a community pool all the kids congregate at each summer. The schools are fantastic. Our elementary school is Lucy V. Barnsley. My older two are going to Middle School this year, one to Earle B Wood and the other to Argyle Magnet. The local H.S. is Rockville, however with magnet and IB programs, they could also choose Richard Montgomery, which was named one of the best HS in the country.

I feel like maybe I'm being a bit long-winded considering your little one is only 5 months old, but I really do love my neighborhood.

Good luck finding a new home.

I am an agent with Long and Foster in Germantown, and was in the Kentlands office for 7 years. I know the area well - lived in Rockville my entire life. I'm happy to help you!

I reside in the Damascus area. I live next door to a Blue Ribbon Elementary School that always receives top notch support from the Board of Education in Montgomery County. We also Damascus High School received this year the presige International Award for Education. We have hardly any crime in our neighborhood. Alot of moms groups and other activities. Come check Damascus out.. I've lived here for 5 years and love it.
