Hi Moms,
Ok, I am desperate. I hate the way that I am still carring around the belly fat from my son who is almost a year old. Does anyone know a good way to get rid of it. I have lost weight in other areas, but the middle is horrible. I know there is no fast way, but is there an effective way to get it gone? Any idea is appreciated.

What can I do next?

M.,

Losing fat in that area is one of the toughest to accomplish. It takes eating predominantly foods that don't raise blood sugar rapidly (high fiber) and exercise of some kind, as well as supplementation. CLA (Conjegated Linoleic Acid)is one of the more effective ones. We teach a lifestyle system that has been very affective in targeting fat loss while preserving muscle. Can share more information if there is interest.

Best,
J.

Mindy,
This is no joke. You hear all the time that you need to cut back on fat to lose weight, however you do not hear very often that there is good fat that your body does need. I did my research and found out that the best at keeping off the weight was watching your sugar intake. I have been cutting down on my Carbohydrates and it has worked tremendously, I can eat fried chicken fried in butter, if I want, w/o the coating, of course. It is a way of life and not a diet, because what normally happens with diets is that you either starve yourself or gain all of the weight when you're done. It is hard, at first to not grab for the toast when you have eggs and bacon for breakfast, or grab a bowl of spaghetti for dinner, but if you start off for the first week, cutting out the carbs, you will notice the difference in your stomach. Instead of your body using the sugar from the carbs that you eat, it will start pulling your fat researve to burn. Don't skimp on your vitamins. Bottomline, stay away from sweets. Eat pure protein like eggs, fish, meats...Eat salads and green vegetables. This is just a little of sample. A good site is http://www.lowcarb.ca/. 30 mins of cardio and other exercise does help strenghten and tone your body, as well. That stomach fat will start burning off, right before your eyes.
Good luck.

I agree, as well -- exercise is the key! Crunches are great, as long as you do them correctly & don't pull on your neck. Do "Superman's" -- lay on your tummy & raise your arms straight up in front of you & hold; then, raise your legs & hold. Do a few sets of those, then do one arm & one leg & hold; then switch to the other arm/leg & hold. That's a whole core exercise that really isn't very difficult. Another option: lay on your back & pull your legs up (either bend at the knee or keep them straight -- straight is harder). Pull your legs/feet towards the ceiling. You won't be moving much, but you'll be working your lower abs. Excellent one! One last suggestion -- lay on your side with your arms behind your neck (like you're going to do regular crunches -- but keep on your side). Raise up (again, like crunches). This works your side abdominals for more muscle definition. Of course, flip to the other side, too. =) Good luck -- it can be done!! Just do it every day -- even just 10 minutes. Start with 5 minutes! Just do it every day. You'll be hot in no time! :)

After my twins were born I went into a size 12 and never went out until 5 years later. I tried Shaklee's Cinch program and let me tell you it works! I lost 21 pounds and 19 1/2 inches in 8 weeks and I have kept it off now for 8 months and counting... It is very easy and yummy! The difference between Cinch and other programs is that you maintain your body muscle instead of losing it with the fat. When you lose the muscle it decreases your body's metabolism making it hard to lose weight thus creating the yo-yo diet effect. This is an inch loss program so you will see the inches fall off. A friend of mine lost 100 pounds doing Cinch and another friend of mine has lost over 40 and has kept it off for 4 years. I am now in a size 6 and loving the new me! visit http://www.cinchplan.com/amy_healthyconcepts for more information! It is an awesome program powered by leucine, and backed by science...now you can't beat that!

Good Luck!

I agree with the stomach exercises. Also, cut back on fatty foods. There are tons of stomach exercises you can do. I like the Slim in Six DVD's. They're great for toning up and trimming down. It's perfect for me because I don't necessarily need to lose pounds, just convert some of my fat into muscles. If you stick to the exercise routine, you can transform your body completely in the 6 weeks. This will be the second time I've done it, the first time was when my kids were 1 and 2. I noticed a difference back then after the first 2 weeks.

Sadly enough the only way I know to do it effectively is to do stomach exercises seriously. Sorry.

Hi M.,
I had the same problem after I gave birth to my second daughter. The first time, the fat melted away so quickly, but the second one was very hard to take off--especially the middle. I was very pro-active, got to the gym right away, but when the middle was still hanging there, I took up pilates. This helped ALOT, but after a year and a half of doing that, there was still some left
hanging! I tried Core Rhythms, the starter packet. But dont buy it buy from the tv ad, Target has it for a fraction of the cost!
The packet comes with 4 dvds (for $40) with one 15 minute
workout dvd. The 15 minute dvd is the one I use daily. Since I own my own business and have two girls, I don't have time for daily 45 min-ish workouts.
I intend to use the other videos over winter when there is more down time.
I love it and it works! My 'baby' is now 3 yrs old and
my abs are back!
Now,you have to keep in mind that it targets the abs. You do get an overall exercise (with the 15 min dvd) but you should do the longer dvds and gym if you have more weight to lose. Hope this helps!

Are you exercising at all? If so, what? You NEED to be doing both cardio and weight training, even if it's light weight training. Muscle burns more at rest than fat so you need to build muscle for metabolism purposes.

In addition, sorry but there is NO SUCH THING as spot reducing. You can tone muscle underneath, but you body has a predisposed way of losing and gaining weight and you can't change that. You're better off to do "full body exercises" that involve multiple muscle groups or compound movements.....more muscle recruitment.......more calorie burn.

However, you ALSO need to make SURE you're doing exercises correctly to maximize your efforts. You could also do some invertal training doing things like 1-2 minutes of jump roping, running up stairs, etc. in with some of your exercsies. This type of training is great for calorie burn.

In addition, you didn't mention a thing about your eating habits. VERY important! This can make or break you!

Where are you located?

I have had the spare tire for years. I have been doing the South Beach diet and the first place you lose weight from is your belly. It works great. You have to be committed to doing this and I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months.
Good luck

Hi M., Sounds like youa re ready for a serious plan. There is a plan with Shaklee called the Cinch Inch loss plan that works great. It is a meal replacement program and you are not hungry with this plan it keeps you balanced and it works with an amino acid called Leucine which helps you burn fat instead of muscle. Please feel free to check it out. ____@____.com Good Luck...S.

The most effective and long-lasting way to keep weight off is to do it slowly (1/2 - 1 pound per week). Unfortunately, we can't choose the parts of our body to lose weight from, so you may need to lose more weight than you think to get rid of the tire. Doing toning exercises, etc, will define that area once the fat is gone, but doing toning exercises will not "spot reduce" that area. I see you have three kids. Me too, and my lower belly is my problem area. Although I have lost more than all my baby weight and am at my high school weight, my belly still is not flat. I have accepted that, and am ok with it. Some parts are flatter and some are poofier! Small price to pay for my little cuties.
Good luck!
