You might try calling CPS or whoever your electric company is to set up payment arrangements. They are usually willing to work with you. You might also try various churches here, such as Alamo City Christian Fellowship. Just pray and God will take care of you.

You can also call the Family/Children services. They have a list of places that can possibly help you. There are a lot of Churches that help people out too.

Best of Luck to you!!

Hello L.,

I am wondering have you tried your local church in your area. Have you tried making payment arrangements with CPS. You can only make payment arrangements if you have not received a pink notice on your door yet. Another place that might help you is Catholic charities, but I think you have to call them on Mondays. Sometimes, if you go to one place you might have to ask if they know of anyone else that might be able to help you.
If you have any other questions you can email me ____@____.com

The only thing I can tell you is to call the power company, CPS or whomever your service is with, and explain that you are having trouble paying the bill. The utility companies usually have programs for people in situations like yours. Best of luck!

Try dialing 211 for United Way. They usually have a lot of resources for things like that, be sure to mention that you were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Hope they can help you!
