Hello everyone,

I've been with my fiancee for over 13 years and have three children. We are finally deciding to get married. Our wedding arrangements are almost complete, but still trying to find out what to do for our honeymoon. We're on a budget and really don't want to spend more than $1000 ($1500 max.). Please help.

Thanks in advance.

How about going to St. Augustine, FL for a long weekend? Nice location. They have horse drawn carriage rides and it's a really pretty city.

I'd look at Groupon Getaways or LivingSocial vacation specials. They have some beautiful destinations within driving distance, within U.S. or outside the U.S.

A lot of state parks and forest areas have nice secluded cabins. For our honeymoon we got a little cabin overlooking a lake, with a hot tub on the back porch. It was wonderful and so relaxing! No one around for miles, it was quiet and peaceful. We even got a catered dinner from a local restaurant, lobster and champagne brought right to the cabin. Overall the whole week probably cost us $800.

The cheapest place to go is usually Vegas.

Casinos subsidize airfare & have cut rate room & package specials.

I don't gamble... But I do love:
- swim
- cirque du Soleil
- traveling Broadway shows
- food
- sex
... Etc.

Colonial Williamsburg. Check their website - they have decent package deals for lodging and admission, especially for 3 day weekends and such, and you can drive there from Richmond in a couple of hours, so no airfare to worry about.

The Gaylord National hotel is supposed to be really nice (just outside of DC in MD). My hubby and I went to The Homestead for 2 nights. It cost about $1000 but was so worth it - we relaxed in the spa, swam in the indoor pool, walked the grounds, had amazing/gourmet meals. Also consider, a long weekend in DC - tons to do there and some great hotels to choose from or a long weekend in VA Beach. If you go before peak season (not sure when you are getting married) it won't be crowded and you can take long, romantic walks on the beach. Congratulations!

This is where we went for our honeymoon. http://www.cobbly.com/
We got a great cabin in the mountains for $1,000 for one week. The downtown area in Gatlinburg has a great aquarium, shopping, restaurants, and there's white water rafting, horseback riding, and hiking.

You could find a bed and breakfast near other things you'd like to see. Friends went to a lovely little place in PA that we are going to go to this summer at their recommendation. I could easily spend a week in /around Willamsburg.

My brother-in-law and his fiance used a honeymoon registery: http://www.travelersjoy.com/?t=50081&gclid=CKmCmcn1rr...

I don't think they spent a cent on their wedding and they even had some extra left over that they did not spend. I personally thought it was tacky but other people seemed to think it was a great idea =)
