Seeking Good Family Church in Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake Area

I would like to invite you to our church - it is Southlake Church of the Assemblies of God - we are located at 101 E Highland in Southlake. We are on the corner of E Highland and Whites Chapel. We are a rather small church (about 80-100) we have Children's Church and Toddler Church for the little ones. We have a great praise and worship time and have a pastor that is truly remarkable. We have been there about 20 years now. Our service on Sunday is Sunday School at 9:30 and worsip at 10:30. We have classes for little ones. We would love to have you come visit us. I will warn you we are going thru a major remodel of our sanctuary so things are not as they normally are but we are having wonderful services inspite of the chaos going on around the building. Fellowship Church in Grapevine across from Grapevine Mills mall. It is amazing and your children will love it! The children's ministry is geared towards fun and making the kids love going to church. We have been at 121 Community Church for 8 years. It is a great place and full of opportunities to get plugged in, to serve at church, in the community, and globally. You should check it out.

We are members of First Baptist Church of Hurst. They are not your typical "Southern Baptist" Church. You come as you are. We are heavily involved in giving back to the community. I invite you to come join us on Sunday. We are part of the "Couple Connection" class which meets Sunday morning at 9:45AM. We have two service times, 9:45 and 11AM. I saw that someone already suggested this, but IBC (Irving Bible Church) is very philanthropic and very laid back. They have great youth programs, and lots of services to choose from. Very welcoming!

You should try Hillside Community Church in Keller - it is off 377, just south of 1709, on Ray White. The preacher is hilarious - very down-to-earth. Great family church - our kids have thrived in the children's program (ages 2 and 4). There are endless opportunities to serve. They have great outreaches in the community as well as mission work in San Antonio for the youth and Honduras. The also do a "church has left the building" project each year. They close down the church for services and send all the members out to projects throughout the community. It is awesome! We've only been going about a year, but my mom and aunt and uncle have been there for several years. I hope you try it!

We are members of Church at the Cross in Grapevine. It's Baptist, but my husband was raised Methodist, and we'd visited several denominations ourselves to find the right place. We've been there 6 years, and LOVE it. It's smaller, very family--we have 3 kids. It's off the southbound access road from hwy 121 if you take the William D. Tate exit (just south of Skatetown). Hang in there--there are so many churches in our area, and I'm sure you'll find the right fit if you keep at it!

You might like Irving Bible Church just off of 635 & beltline...it's not far from Grapevine. We commuted there from Southlake. We came from a very philanthropic urban church and found this one to be similar. They are involved w/groups like water is basic, & ALARM, along w/TONS of local "charities" that are through some of the schools (backpack drives, food drives, etc etc).
IBC appears slightly "mega" when you first walk through the doors...but, it's not at all. We are not from the south, so that whole mega-church trend was a bit too much for us and we purposefully looked for a church that was not that! Anyhow, their evening service is the most laid back, but the morning services are great as well.

Gateway Church in Southlake off 1709 is wonderful church with lots of children and adult programs. Ilove it!

My family and I attend Colleyville Assembly of God. We are located on Colleyville Blvd. We are not a huge church, but a decent size. We have a lot of children in your daughter's age range. There is Sunday School and Pre-school church for her on Sunday mornings. We also have a Rainbows program for 3-5 year olds on Wednesday nights. Our youth group is leaving tomorrow for a fine arts competition, and we have had numerous church dinners to help support them and help them raise funds to go. We have a family church picinic at least 1 time a year, we have an Easter Egg hunt each Easter FREE and open to the public, and we help make stockings and fill them for childrens' homes in our church district, and have an Angel tree at Christmas. Our youth is starting a new community support and help program this year! Which is very exciting. We would love to have you and your family come visit. I have 2 churches to recommend and one comment. I really get the whole money thing, no one wants to be told over and over that they should give to the church. However, that IS in the bible, and we ARE supposed to do it. I hope that you've given these churches a few visits before deciding that all they want is money. I know most churches have at least 1 sermon on giving/tithing per year and if you just so happened to be at that one sermon, that would stink!

Ok, next. I have attended both Church at the Cross and Compass Christian. Church at the Cross is affiliated (I think) with the Southern Baptist Convention. They have a beautiful campus with a lot of land and a lake on it. The people there are very friendly and welcoming. There are a lot of kid/family activities and it is a wonderful place to be. My children have or will go to the preschool, I taught at the preschool, and have gotten to know the children's minister and several of the staff and it's just a really great church. www.churchatthecross.com. It's located on William D Tate between Mustang & Hall Johnson in Grapevine.

The second church I would recommend is Compass Christian. I attend at the Colleyville loaction, but they have a Valley Ranch, Roanoke, and ??? one more location as well. It is a Christian church, not affiliated with any specific denomonation (at least not to my knowledge). Again, they have great kids programs and a great preacher and service. The music is upbeat and the sermons are very to the point without pointing the finger at you. Some examples of programs we have participated in are a Mission trip for the kids - they had various mission programs for kids aged 1-?? My 1st and 3rd graders participated in this over spring break. They first went to an elderly lady's home and pulled weeds, cleaned windows, etc. They then packed boxes for the soliders overseas, and then headed to Mountasia for some fun. I felt it was completely age appropriate and the time was just right for thier attention span. Recently, the church sponsored a week of Feed the Children. If I understand it right, GRACE tries to provide food for school aged children during the summer at various locations to make sure the kids are getting a chance to eat something while not in school. The church took on a week where we provided the food and served it at the Grapevine Middle School location. My kids and I were able to volunteer, help pick up some items from the church, and then serve the children/families that came. It gave me the opportunity to tell them about how we don't know these families situation, but that they might not be able to provide enough food for their families right now, etc., etc. That's just two examples, but again, both churches are great. I love, love, love my church! It is called Compass Christian Church and they have a permanent Colleyville location and a Roanoke branch that is currently meeting in an elementary school until they grow large enough to get a permanent spot. Both locations have an awesome ministry team and are VERY family-oriented. It's a non-denominational, bible-based church whose message is Real Life. Real Love. Real Answers. We go to White's Chapel too and love it. I know it is huge, but we actually go to the Saturday night service which is about 150-250 people which makes it a perfect blend of a small enough service while the church is still big so that there are lots of different activities to fit your interests. Hope to see you there sometime.

Check out Gateway Church in Southlake! I attend the NRH campus but Southlake is the main campus. You won't be disappointed.

I use to attend Fellowship Church in Grapevine and loved it. I was a single parent at the time and it was wonderful for me.

My husband and 2 kids attend First Baptist Church in Colleyville and LOVE it! I have a 9 month old daughter and a 14 year old son. Our pastor is amazing! He is personable, approachable, and speaks from the Bible. Give us a try :-)

My family recently joined White's Chapel UMC (just down from the town center on 1709). It is a large church, but it has so much to ofer. Great Children's ministries - every semester the children's offering goes towards a mission project. Right now they are raising money to build a a latrine (or potty as my 5 years tells me) for a school in Africa. They have also raised money for Heffier International, Angel's Attic. The first sunday of the month communion is served during service and a special offering is taken for different community and internation needs. Mission trips are avalible for youth, women's groups, men's groups, and families. There is also many service types. I go to the traditional service (choir w/ orchastra) Sunday @ 11am. There are also contemperary services in the Bridge @ 9:30 & 11am. If you want a small, litergy service you can go to the small chapel Sundays @ 9:30. My husband was also worried about the large size, but it has so much for our children (ages 2 & 5). Going to a large church you have to find a group - sunday school, bible study to really make new friends and find a support group.

I attend Gateway church also but at the Southlake campus. The church is wonderful. Has plenty of outreach and plenty of classes. The attitudes are wonderful and the worship team is amazing. They do have 5 services to choose from. 2 on Saturday evening and 3 on Sunday morning. The sermons are always great and leave you ready for next week. You can go to gatewaypeople.com and listen to a few sermons online if you want. If you want a smaller group when you go you might want to try the 5:45pm on Saturday. That is the one I attend and i love it.

Hi A., have you visited 121 Community Church yet? We've been there 6 years, first in its small location off Hall-Johnson service road to now behind Cinemark Tinseltown (next to Pump-It-Up) off 121/Main St. in Grapevine. It's laid back, comfortable, and solid teaching. Our pastor Ross Sawyers will be back Aug. 23. He's maybe 42 years old and outstanding at sharing the Word while in jeans!. It's a simple service, and on Aug. 23 we start three services. Right now, there are two identical services at 9:15 and 11. Creation Land is our Preschool area for your 3-year old. It's terrific. We are full of young families. Please give us a try. Many, many people (including us) visit one time and never go anywhere else to visit. There is an information desk in the front that should be easy to find. We've been in this space for three years now. Hope you visit! A truly wonderful, down to earth, smaller church- Celebration Fellowship off of 820 and John T White (far E FW; borders Hurst and Richland Hills). http://www.thehospitalchurch.com. I would drive a distance to go if I had to. I started in a weekly evening recovery class because of an issue my husband and I were dealing with, did that for 4 yrs and decided that's where I really felt at home because they are so very real. James (pastor) never preaches on money. Not that it's wrong, tho I know what ur saying abt churches that go overboard. Services are 9am and 1045am. Children's bldg is brand new and so awesome. :)

We go to Heartland in Las Colinas. It is on Beltline in between Highway 114 and 161. We would love to have you visit. I have three boys 14, 10, and 6, and they all love it. We visited around almost 3 years ago when we found this church and felt like it was a great fit for us. I help out in the children's area and I know everyone is really great with the kids.

If you don't find anything in Keller, you could try Grace Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Arlington. I go there and can HIGHLY recommend it.
