For recreational reading I recommend Lori Wick, or a new author Jenn Faulk. Lori's books are available at any bookstore. Jenn's is on amazon for the kindle.
Can anyone recommend good Christian women's books or Bible studies to me? I really need a new book to read. My church used to have a women's ministry, but since my pastor and his wife moved to a different church, we no longer have one. I'm just in need of something I can read on my own until my church's women's ministry starts again or if I find a new church in town with a more active women's ministry. I prefer female authors, and enjoy Beth Moore's books. However, I'd also like to read books by other female authors. Ladies, do you have any suggestions?
Thank you!
Thanks for the suggestions. I have read Beth Moore and Priscilla Shirer's books and love them. I have seen both of them speak live and they were great! I have done a few Kay Arthur Bible studies and I enjoyed those as well. I heard Priscilla Shirer is releasing a new Bible study in May on the life of Gideon and a new trade book called God is Able this fall. Can't wait to read them. She will be speaking at the Women of Faith conference in Dallas in September, and if I can find a church or group in my area that's going, I'll try to make it. I looked on christianbook.con at their selection and found three books that look good. They're titled Stumbling into Grace by Lisa Harper, Girl Talk by Jen Hatmaker, and Grace for the Good Girl by Emily Freeman. I'd love to buy and read them soon. Still open to more suggestions! :)

Kay Arthur is one of my favorites. I've been using her Bible study books for 20 years. She is very Biblically strong.
My pastor's wife just gave me a booklet with excerpts from a book called, " Fierce Women" by Kimberly Wagner. This booklet just has a few parts of the book but from what I've read, I think I may order the book from Amazon.

I also like Kay Arthur and Beth Moore.
I would actually recommend "Spirituality of the Cross". It wasn't written by a woman though... but by Gene Veith.
It is a great book on vocation. As a wife and mother, it really helps to understand our vocations from a biblical perspective.

You are hereby invited to comet o BSF! Bible Study Fellowship sounds like something you may be interested in. Our class meets on Wednesday mornings. The first Wednesday of the month is a welcome/intro time. I'm sure there is a class that meets closer to you. Check out bsfinternational.org or their facebook page for more info, class locations, etc.
If you like fiction romance, Janice Thompson is very good. The Bella series about a wedding coordinator and her family is great. she also has a series about a soap opera couple and the people they work with - the first one is Stars Collide. These are all fun reads without all the foul language and sex. She writes about reaching others for Christ and letting God take care of the situations which arise.
Check out Proverbs31.org. You can get daily emails with devotions, but also find out about books by the women affiliated with this ministry. One book that sounds great (but I haven't tried it yet) is " Unglued" by Lysa TerKeurst. If you find a book you really like, you might even start a Bible study yourself at your church!!
Francine Rivers - she has several book series - Mark of the Lion, Sons of Encouragement, and Lineage of Grace.
Dee Brestin has some wonderful books out there. You can find her books on Amazon.
I would check out Lisa Bevere, Joyce Meyer, Christine Caine, and John and Stasi Eldridge. Captivating is amazing if you haven't read it yet.
If you have facebook type "christian women" into search and you will come up with groups that you can connect with.
I read the Bible, that's the BEST book, and then I follow Greg Laurie, Joel Osteen, etc.. there are a LOT of Christian websites to follow.
