My child has special needs and we are clients at a special needs kids' centre. We're trying to help the centre with ideas of what to do to try and get more parents out. We'd like to put on a parents' night. Since many of the kids are very unique, it's hard to get sitters. So we plan on having the kids in one room and the parents in another. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Here's what we have so far: casino night/games night; celebrity chef/cooking class; coffee house; cocktail/wine appreciation; dessert/chocolate night; survivor (challenges, etc. like the show - just not quite so physical).

You've got some great ideas already! How about in-line dancing night or what about a men vs. women game? Or hire a dance instructor so everyone can learn salsa or another form of dance.
How about taking candid photos or dressing up to take photos? How about a simple (not dirty) game of Truth or Dare? Or have a movie night with popcorn for everyone. I think the possibilities are endless. Have a fun night planned!!!
How about game night? Bunko is a fun game that involves no major skills or training other than rolling the dice and keeping score. The game allows you the opportunity to rotate tables and interact with others every few minutes (or to whatever time schedule you set). If Bunko is not your thing, try Win,Lose or Draw or even Pictionary.
Color Me Mine will also do parties at your site.
I live in Simi Valley and also have a special needs child. We have no family nearby and I also have trouble finding sitters. Where is your Special Needs Kids Center?

I belong to a local MOMS club, and we have been doing a Murder Mystery night every October. We order a package that has all the info on the characters, clues, and costume ideas, and then we all pick a character & dress up. It's a lot of fun & you just read your lines, so you don't have to have any acting talent (which is good for me!)
